    Helmets

Err yes of course.......... (but a fair point!) But it deos seem the lid must be for more and more track days, so might as well future proof me.

    Helmets

I was looking at this one in the shop. I suppose it makes sense to get an FR one, just in case the worse happens.

    Helmets

I was looking at getting a helmet for track days, but i've been told they are different to bike helmets. Fire rating for starters. Is there a standard so that i'll be able to go on any track day. I;ve been looking on a few trackday circuit sites but all they say is you need a helmet? Plus best place to buy one? Cheers
  6. I'm interested. Whats the regs on the helmet please? Have they got to be fire retardant? Cheers

    Alarm Clock........

I've been using my phone as well since my alarm clock died, but prefer something thats dedicated, plus it just beeps at me
  9. A bit of a long shot, but does anyone know of an alarm clock with at least 2 alarms which can be set like so: Monday 06:30 Tuesday-Friday 07:00 Weekends 09:00 (or not all) Waking up to FM or DAB. Ideally with an auto-dimmer as well, and whilst I’m asking how about with blue LED’s??? Theres DAB ones which offer weekday and weekends, although if you wish to turn them on or off, or keep changing the time it seems to be very long winded (which I’ll need to do every week with only weekday/weekends). I suppose their thinking is it should be set once and left. Any ideas please? The Sony ICF-C318 seems to be the best so far, albeit green and self setting dimmer but the means of switching alarm A or B on is very simple and quick. Both with their own control knob. Thank you.
  10. Dunno. This stuff has a low tac so sticks well enough to hang on doing over 160 so long as its put on ok. We use it at work on painted ali and as do now car manu' on cars. Its good for upto 6months with no residue or damage to paint.

    Falken 452?

I've got the 452 and used them at Marham. No problems what so ever. Better than the Pirelli P Zeros i had!!?? I've got stiff Teins though if that makes a difference... Not wearing to well though although what do you expect form a track day
  12. I stuck a load of low tac tape on mine and came away all clean with no chips!! well worth it.
  13. Cheers Si for anough great day. and the weather was tops until after lunch. Only thing i'd prefer is have an extra group: A, B & C, with a 20 minute window, so theres less cars on at a time.
  14. WHAT!!! you're going to wake him with your horn!!!

  17. I'm sure Si can post a more detailed outlook? Might make for some interesting corners
  18. I agree that Marham is very well organised and its a big wide track, but accidents do happen unfortunately. I dont believe there has been any there due the decent attendees and the policing, so lets hope it keeps that way and have a good days driving. I dont want to put doom and gloom on it, but just please be aware of what could happen. I dont want anyone saying "if only" I still cant take the risk though.
  19. You need to be insured with them in the first place though.
  20. I’ve asked for the wording to be emailed – I’ve only just taken it out, but spent a while on the phone. This policy took 5 years to arrange apparently, and is the MD’s baby as he’s into trackdays, so I guess it was setup to suit his needs An ‘extension to a policy’ seems to be different to an individual trackday insurance, or at least this is what I found when I rang round. The only stipulation on my insurance is that it has to be a club event, not any old day. They were happy with this Marham event. This is worth mentioning when getting insurance as it seems easier and cheaper to obtain. I have just come off the phone and the only thing it doesn’t cover is consumables, just as per your normal insurance.
  21. My insurer does not offer stand alone trackday insurance unfortunately On a good note though my trackday insurance covers me for exactly the same as my normal, on the road insurance (as this is just an extension), albeit the excess is now 10% of the cars value/agreed sum.
  22. Quote from the Marham Brief Si posted: Insurance It is very unlikely that your normal road insurance policy will cover you for the event. The event insurance will cover you for damage to MOD property and third party liability to other people not participating. Therefore, check with your insurance company and either through them or one of the specialist companies. It is strongly recommended that you take out track day cover for your vehicle, as you or your insurance company must pay for any damage you may cause to other cars. Also, you may wish to consider personal accident insurance; track day accidents are very rare, but if you decide to take your car onto a track, you must be aware that you are accepting the risk to the car, yourself and any passenger. You will be required to sign an indemnity prior to the event, as will any second drivers and passengers. Mine polciy says: "Where your vehicle is being used in connection with any such event our maximum liability in respect of death of, or injury caused to, any person will not exceed £10,000,000 per event, unless we have to provide a higher limit as a requirement of the Road Traffic Acts. Please note that whilst the above extension in cover is being used the Accidental Damage excess is increased to 10% of the vehicle value." My insurance covers me for an already agreed value, plus the trackday insurance covers everything except consumables, so bodywork is also included. I havent said who they are as its not promoting the clubs insurer, Sky, and you have to be a member of another car club.
  23. Jaymdee quoted £80. I found £120 (IIRC) from an independent but found it was much cheaper through my current insurer as an extension. Try our clubs insurerer Sky: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=34032
