I was about to go for the Fenix LD20. 180 Lumens 2x AA's 2hrs on high power. But….. I had looked at the LED Lenser P7 (Blacks do them so went for a play) http://www.ledlenserusa.com/product_info.php?modelNum=8407 Not bad at all. Its focusable so is a bit more useful for me. x4 AAA 167 Lumens Run time? But they now do the P14. http://www.ledlenserusa.com/product_info.php?modelNum=8414 x4 AA 172 Lumens Focusable. A bit bigger but you’ve got to watch the video to appreciate it. a LOT better IMO than the LD20 and TK10 which is raved about. (Scroll down) http://www.glowgadgets.co.uk/led-lenser-p7-quick-focus-torch-167-lumens-8407.ir?cName=all-items It doesn’t have the flare, but its very precise which suits me. The guys got the same sort of enthusiasm for torches as we have about cars and his reviews have been very good/useful. Also he offers a free solar torch and bike bracket http://www.glowgadgets.co.uk/led-lenser-p14-cree-quick-focus-tactical-torch-8414.ir?cName=all-items I’ve got several torches so I don’t mind it a big bigger (not that its large) than the current range of CR123 torches. Although if you want the brightest: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=NkkU0UO3sek appreciate the time he’s spent on it!!

Thank you. I reckon i'll end up with the Fenix LD20 after a bit of research. Normal batteries, good life and good lumens. Win Win Win

I've got a http://www.heinnie.com/g3ax7p793346/Flashlights/Inova/Inova-X5-Flashlight/p-97-256-761/ which is nice a small, runs on li, and is quite bright, but i'm looking for BRIGHT Not sure how many lumens this Inova gives, but its ok.

No its getting dark, i'm looking at buying a half decent LED torch. I suppose with most things you get what you pay for. Been looking here: http://www.heinnie.com/lbvcaa792038/Flashlights/c-1-97/ And leaning towards either the following because they take ‘normal’ AA batteries: Fenix L2D CE Cree Q5 http://www.heinnie.com/lbvcaa792038/Flashlights/Fenix/Fenix-L2D-CE-Cree-Q5-Premium-Flashlight/p-97-403-2519/ Fenix LD20 http://www.heinnie.com/lbvcaa792038/Flashlights/Fenix/Fenix-LD20/p-97-403-3302/ Might be tempted to go for a rechargeable CR123 one, and buy a charger, but it wont be used loads. Do these keep the charge better than ni – mh? Needed more for being handy than needed for work, so thinking the recharging will become a pain. There are loads on Ebay quoting 200+ lumens, but dubious of how good they are. Has anyone had any experiences/recommendations? Looking to spend about £50. Thanks
  8. I'm trying to find one bizarrely and cant find one anywhere? Has any one got any ideas please?
  9. Thought this might be of vague interest. Look aright for a kit car. More details in the attachment: Hand built over 9 years For Norwich Union Renault 2700cc V6 150mph

    Failed Hard Drive

ok, I probably missed something here. To recap: i had a HD fail in my PC. I then replaced the Control PCB on the HD and all now works fine. For a precaution and also to easily use other HD externally i assume i can use the HDA (Hard Drive Adapter - as per Chartons post 9). He suggested this HDA could be used to recover the information on the failed HD. So would i still need the Control PCB on the HD in full operation before i could use the HDA to recover the info? Hope this makes better sence and thanks for assistance

    Failed Hard Drive

Sorry, are you sayiing the HDA will ONLY work so long as i get a new control board? (which i have replaced already and all seems to be workign fine so far). I was/am hoping the HDA bypasses the control board if this is indeed possible????

    Failed Hard Drive

Cheers And this will still work witht motor controller chip stuffed?
  14. Nooo. the other way around!! you'll love the better brakes. Brings the car together.

    Failed Hard Drive

I'll have to get a RAID card wont i to mirror drives? How ever 'Speed Fan' measures the temp on the HDD it never gets over 30 degress. I've got 2 HDD's both being cooled by a largish fan which covers the top and bottom of the HDD and with a good gap in between. Is that a normal external caddy?

    Failed Hard Drive

Lost my main Maxtor hard drive last week and i hadnt backed up this year!!! The 3rd largest chip had fried. I had a hunt around and seemed to end up with 2 options: 1. go to http://www.ontrack.com they'll recover the info on another HD i provide. £50 to look at it and another £195-£495 to take the info off. all plus vat 2. try replacing the control PCD. its got to be the exact same as the one your replacing. I thought i'd go for option 1st. Found a complete HD on ebay. all in £17. undo 5 torx screws and the board just lifts off and is connected via spring contacts. Couldnt be simpler If failed 1st boot up, but changed a bios setting (cant remember which one) to auto (ratehr than 1MT or 2MT???) it if fired up now with no probs. So pleased to get the info back - mainly photos of our 1yr old boy. All backed up again now. Lesson learnt there!!
  17. Best mod for me was bigger brakes with decent lines and pads, then HID's, then BPU in that order.

    Alarm Clock........

After looking around I bought a Sony ICFC318S which is really easy to adjust the 2 alarm clock times and i'm really happy with it. BUT, when looking around I entered the Roberts Radio completion and I won Chuffed to nuts Getting a Gemini 33 (£100 worth and does everything) It will look great in my kitchen I reckon http://www.flixfacts.co.uk/view/video-fl.php?l=en&d=458&f=roberts-crd-33&cp=no&btg=WI7&t=fl&p=1196&g=&txt= http://www.robertsradio.co.uk/Products/DAB_radios/Gemini_33/index.htm

Oi!! i reckon i must be about your age I'm a nippy early thirty somthing (IIRC ) And Mr CW, you can only obtain as much information as you have by being around that bit longer (and am i glad you have!! )

    Helmets

I borrow a friends helmet which he used for his Rally Cross which is a full face and i havent had any peripheral issues, but i agree an open face would be better. I’d like a full face for the fact I seem to swap lifts with Caterham type cars, so something to keep the bugs out is always a bonus.
