Sounds as though the nut behind the bolt has broken its weld and is now spinning freely.I'm not sure if you can gain access to the loose nut or whatever to hold it with a spanner or grips to undo the bolt.

Desperate for one of these, mines leaking from the usual place the bleed nipple. So wanting a crack free working unit please.

found Black NA low miles, Nice conversion project
AndyJax replied to krisgowing's topic in Supra Classifieds
Its difficult to say without seeing it in the flesh really.Snowyowl123 did n't sound too impressed with it . Taking it back to standard 2nd hand front bumper say £150 ish rear bumper £100 ish and the OEM side skirts with the brake air ducting panels say £180 for the pair if your very lucky you might get them in black saving on some re painting, plus money for any re spraying that needs doing. Then theres the question of what brand of tyres has been fitted ,what brand of brake pads and discs it has and such and such. 4K aint sounding like a decent price to me even for such a desirable colour like black.Just my tupennth. -

You'd really have to think so after swopping the engine and stripping that one down. -

Well it would feel abit under powered and lacking performance compared to a TT would n't it Seriously might have been a good idea to have the existing engine checked over rather than do an engine swop ! -
for sale TB Developments Magnetic Sump Plug
AndyJax replied to TBDevelopments's topic in Parts for Sale
Hi do you still have these in stock ? -
Great paint job without a doubt and those ain't cheap in the best Supra colour
-
Yeah your right forgot to mention that, its a black metal strip with clips in that holds the bottom of the bumper flush with the tank guard which easily un screws to get to those awkward bolts at the rear, but the majority of the bumper is attached to the car body and won't fall off or anything should your tank guard rust away:)
-
No they don't hold the rear bumper up.The tank guard actually bolts to the petrol tank retaining straps with 6 or 7 small bolts. There is two of these bolts at the back near the bumper and these can be fiddley to get at so best jacking the rear of the car up for easier access me thinks. Yes good 2nd hand ones are sort after, most have or are rusting away due to their position.

Well mate I beg to differ. The BMW 840C was built from mid 1993 to late 1995 then sold with the 4.4 ltr engine. Last Capri built Dec 1986 so still a good few around in the early nineties. Having had a manual S14 with plans to buy a S15 or a Z350 following your logic would not buying a N/A auto be a great backward step then ? Maybe I am lucky with my car and have something special, a visit to a reliable rolling road might be in order to measure its power perhaps.
-
Theres nowt embarrassing about owning a N/A, the car in question must be buggered surely or stuck in 2nd. When I first got my N/A I was genuinely surprised how quick it would go over 100 MPH no problem so much so I bought a sat nav to check the speedo accuracy and it was spot on. I've owned a tuned Nissan SX200 S13 and a standard SX200 S14 my N/A Supra is quicker than either of these.Only mod I have is a cat back JSR stainless exhaust everything else is standard as far as I know anyway and don't forget back in 93 220 bhp was a lot from a 3 LTR engine when people were still raving about Fords 2.8 Injection Capri with 160 bhp and not forgetting the BMW 840 4 LTR V8 with 200 bhp. Times moved on from then but the Supra N/A can still frighten some so called sports cars.

I've been led to believe that the standard viscous fan is more than up for the job unless its massive BHP. Is it really worth it for the sake of gaining a bit more power the trouble of fitting and setting up electric fans.Prepares to be put right!

Sounds like Toyota took the easy option then. The wires do unclip , but theres lots of clips which keep the wires safe from rubbing on the auto shifter to undo and you have to be careful when routing the wires they don't catch like they did when I did the job.Not something I'd relish doing again.

Just nipped down to my local breakers hoping to source some LS400 front4 pot brake calipers to replace my NA two pot jobbies. He did n't have any in stock ,then queried why did I want some for a brake upgrade for the Supra when they seem to be prone to seizing and hes had quite a lot of returns. Has anybody who's done this conversion had issues with the caliper pistons seizing more often than usual or is it just a case of brake calipers tending to seize up more in a breakers yard because they re not working and exposed to the elements perhaps ? Any thoughts and advice is greatly appreciated

Monthly Meet - Yorkshire - 1st Tuesday of the Month
AndyJax replied to michael's topic in England - Yorkshire
Anybody turning up tonight should be a nice evening for it ? -
Just avoid those cheap shitty Ebay ones and go for one better ones like Carbing.I've a big beefy Tein strut brace which did make a nice improvement especially around roundabouts.
-
Never had any problems with my Tein coilovers no knocking or anything and they re about 8 years old not bad for cheap garbage.

Heater Panel in Centre Console Unresponsive
AndyJax replied to marbleapple's topic in mkiv Technical
Gotta be either a blown fuse or loose connection at back, try lightly tapping the side of the dashboard works for me when my heater control lights dont always come on -
Alot of Guys use Tipex to mark the front of the pulley so you can see when the outer ring starts to move and replace it before it flys off ! Usually buying second hand is false economy you re swapping an old part for another old part when the rubber has started to perish, I bought a genuine one off Ebay USA £125 including custom charges and delivery.

I'd check there's wiring to the third brake light before buying anything. Some of the early Supras 93 platers had the lens, but no wiring due to LEDs not yet being approved by the Govt motoring department or whatever they re called and this maybe the reason it was smoothed over in the first place. I once enquired about a new one because some LEDs aren't working,Mr T quoted £120 ouch.So I might have ago fixing mine with fresh LEDs when I get around to it. I'm surprised the LED Wizard Mr Heckler doesn't offer this service actually.

Door handle, ignition barrel and footwell lights problem
AndyJax replied to Andrew K's topic in mkiv Technical
I would ve thought your local Toyota dealer should be able to locate the switch on one of those blow up diagrams they have in their spare parts dept. Yeah not all Supras have the Footwell lights, optional extra I believe and I once tried to get a spare cover for one of the lights when I discovered it was missing. However even with a part number could Toyota hell as find the Footwell lights on their system not a trace even though they were officially fitted ! -
Door handle, ignition barrel and footwell lights problem
AndyJax replied to Andrew K's topic in mkiv Technical
There is a rather delicate lever like switch behind the drivers side handle which has probably broken/wornout with age. Good news is its a seperate plug in to the door wiring loom so it will be easy to buy a replacement from Mr T. Bad news it means taking the doorcard off and door handle as well, quite a fiddly job. Your footwell lights and ignition barrel light will come on when you open the door because they run off the same circuit and switch as the interior lights and work independantly of the said door handle switch if it should fail .If that makes sense. -
NA Auto all the way, don't forget back in 1993 people were still thinking the Ford Capri 2.8 Injection was amazing with 160 BHP so 220 BHP from a normal 3.0 Ltr engine was pretty good. Spanks all the other NA offerings Nissan 300ZX ,Skyline and Mitsubishi GTO.
