Thanks everyone.
Well you know the story behind why i went in, so here's what was happening whilst i was there.
The first 24 hours are a total blur. I dont remember anything really until i woke up on the ward. This was the friday evening. I had noticed i was in a room with 5 old ladies which didnt bother me to be honest, if anything i thought "lovely, peace and quiet so i can rest" how wrong could i be?
The friday night i was woken in the middle of the night by a 95yr old who looked like a bull dog chewing a wasp, hitting me, telling me i was her daughter and i was doing something wrong. Eventually she went back to bed, the nurses were informed etc and i just left it at that. Bare in mind i wasnt the only person this 95yr old was doing it to. I was still kinda out of it so didnt think any more of it.
So, saturday comes now, and the nurses bring food into us. Now hospital food isnt the nicest at the best of times but u do get a choice in what you would like to have. The nurse came in with the food that neither myself, or the lady next to me liked. Whent he old lady told the nurse, the nurses reply was "Well, sorry love but there has been alot of bad press about us in the Argus (our local paper) saying that we dont feed our patients, so we have to leave the food infront of you. you dont have to eat it. its jsut to cover our backs" MY JAW HIT THE FLOOR!!!! I could not believe what i was hearing. Surely they cant be thinking like this?
After this i noticed that the way they were treating the patients just wasn't to a standard you would expect. e.g. when you call the nurse, they would take about half an hour to come over, they would be sat around a table in their office, having coffee and chatting. They left an old lady on a comode for 45 mins because a nurse ignored her call. Now the calls for the nurses are alarms that wake u up at night. and have flashing red lights above the door to the room that it is coming from, along with the bed that is calling a nurse. There is no excuse for the nurses to have left her in the state she was.
Anywho as time goes by and the nurses change shifts, they jsut keep getting worse. Im not the type of person who can relax / recover in an environment such as this. Hence my discharge...
Last night was the final straw. If the doctor had told me this morning that i could go then i would have left before he could finish his sentence but unfortunately he said no.
I was laying in bed last night, half asleep and half awake? if that makes sense, just sorta gazing around in a world of my own. bare in mind it was 3am. When i notice lady in the bed beside me was walking around my bed. Rather odd i thought, until i realised what it was she was doing. She had dropped her underwear and sat on my bed, thinking it was the toilet, and proceeded to try and urinate/poo on my bed!! WHILST IM IN IT! I ended up kicking her, as an initial reaction to stop her doing what she was as i could get up quick enough to move her. she just waddled back off into bed. Then the lady opposite decides its her turn to join in, and screams for a nurse literally every 3 or 4 seconds for 30 mins solid!! Why she didnt press her call button i will never know. I eventually pressed mine and told the nurse to "sort it the fuck out" but i honestly came sooo close to smothering a poor old lady in her bed last night she got to me that much. The whole time this is going on the nurses are never more than 10 footsteps away? and just pure ignorant. They had the heating on full all weekend, which was crippling, esp considering we are all there for the same reason, heat like that was making it unbareable to sleep/rest/relax/recuperate .
Im still a bit cranky and not sure how much sense any of this will make but this is the main reason as to why i left. Im breathing alot better now, just have the cold to deal with that is making me cough alot and giving me a tight chest but its a million times better than the other night. Apparently the had the crash trolley at the bottom of my bed. Its amazing the things that go on lol
