I'm still interested in this trip, the campsite is open till October and we often get a spell of good weather in September up the west coast. If it gets re-scheduled, I'd need about a weeks notice to sort out childcare and book a B&B nearby. I know the craic can be great when camping, but at the end of the day, I prefer to sleep in a comfortable bed and be fed a full Scottish when on a road trip!

Good luck with the trip guys, looks like a great trip! Watch out for potholes and broken edges to the tarmac on the single track sections and whilst I had no contact issues with my Supra in May this year, those with lowered cars or front lips with limited clearance will need to take some care. The number of tourists that use the Beallach na Ba in camper vans can be ridiculous and few drivers seem to know the rules of the road on single track roads. Beware of the steep drop off on the verges, when re-surfacing the road, they tend to put more and more tarmac on, so the drop off to the verge can be 6" plus! Far better to reverse to a passing place than risk the side skirts or front lip being ripped off Enjoy the trip, the A87 is one of the best roads in Scotland with some fabulous fast sweeping bends and the best scenery around every bend. Just remember to top up with super unleaded at the BP garage just after the Caol/Mallaig roundabout as you leave Fort William, incase there is very little of it out west of FW.

I formed the same opinion and have accepted another offer for next weekend now.

Any more news on this? Getting pressure to commit to something else that weekend.

I'll keep an eye out for August's meet, 180 mile round trip is too much for me for a natter in a car park I'm afraid!

I'm likely to be available and I'm interested, despite being there in mid May! I don't do camping!

Sorry guys can't make this one, I'm away this weekend up to Applecross and will be driving the Beallach na Ba and on some of Skye's roads in the Supra - a wee birthday treat. I'm on the A82 through Glen Coe on Friday, fingers crossed for good weather this weekend.

Sorry guys, I won't make this one either, I've busted the front spoiler coming out of a car park and want to have it sorted before I take it on a long run. Should be ok for an early May meet though, will be taking the Soop up to Applecross via the Beallach na Ba the following weekend as a birthday treat.

It is, was over it last September and the road surface was shockingly pot-holed
