  1. Last time mine played up, its not the same model but it is a TOAD - it was a case of the battery connector was not fitted correctly. I tightened it back up and it stopped making the silly noises and started working properly.
  2. doh.. I had put up a thread about wanted bumper parts hehe next time ill know to check with the local lads - but then again I dont really mind the look of the bomex bumpers so it should look okay.. hopefully Soon as i get it back im taking it down to a garage to get that break line pipe checked out, ive been meaning to do it for ages.
  3. lol oh yes, definately. I dont want to be forking out again =) plus this friday will be a whole 2 weeks without my car! at least the petrol gauge will still show full =)
  4. Just got word from them, theyve started stripping it down, looks like it will be ready Saturday, or if not, Monday.. almost got it back!
  5. Having the front end sorted out, but couldnt get hold of a stock bumper in the time frame - so im having the following work done: replacement of front panels (2) - ones bolt on, other is a weld. replacement and respray of a bonnet Fixing rear wing driver side damage caused by previous owner - he promised to pay but then changed his mind. couldnt chase it via small claims as it was bought from RB2000 dealership grounds where he works, as a private car sale =/ stupid red tape. fitment and spray of bomex front bumper slight realignment of a front wing panel Estimate was £500 for the work, and I was to provide all parts - parts in total came to about £500 too. Hopefully ill have it back by tomorrow! got my new number plate through too 330 x 90 mm, its tiny but still legal =)
  6. Headlights still available? Pming for a price

    I got a job!

Congrats - great to hear !
  8. There is a lot that goes into it! Does anyone notice a pattern with certain friends who do buy rounds, but only in specific pubs, where said beverages are considerably cheaper sneeky buggers hehe
  9. I have a few mates who always tend to need to visit the gents just as its their turn to get the round in.. gets kinda annoying.. especially one who spends £300 on a pair of jeans! What ive done is just stopped buying them as many drinks, we now tend to split up into smaller groups within the large group, so ill be in a round with say 3 other friends - who are equally annoyed by those same magicians , instead of all 10 of us. Seems to work well The magicians still end up nicking half the pizza at the end of the night though!!!
  10. I have read things on other forums about instances where people have had to claim on insurance because their perfectly legally parked car was reversed into etc - and this has meant their insurance and renewal goes up because they are seen as more at risk (even though its not the drivers fault at all). So im thinking about uninsured drivers (bit angry that the figure is that high especially when my insurance equates to a full 2 months wages). If an *insured* driver did damage, such as taking out your wing mirror, and you settled this without getting insurance involved it wont make your insurance go up - right? Same situation as above, settling cost to repair without going through insurance, but now add in an *uninsured driver*. If you report that uninsured driver, im assuming your insurance gets wind of it - and then will increase because of this right (seen more at risk)? somehow that doesnt seem fair at all.. Maybe some uninsured drivers are still on the roads because normal insured drivers are too afraid of the financial impact on their premiums for admitting through no fault of their own an uninsured driver went into them? (Correct me if im wrong on the above please.. im just throwing random thoughts out there!) I only thought of that type of situation because im roaming around the boards trying to gather information on what to do if your hit by another driver - such as taking pictures there and then, what details to get from them, what details to get from witnesses etc.. Apologies if my typing sucks but its late
  11. My mistake they look good though. Im ordering my pate today, will be oblong and going for as small as is legally allowed by the regulations. gonna get a pic up once its sorted out too
  12. Well I spoke to the garage yesterday, they said the front panels have arrived, but the bumper and the bonnet is still in transit. Spoke to Knight Racer and it was packed on Wednesday I think, so were looking at either a delivery today, or Monday.. so im thinking next Tuesday (optimistic) or wednesday (mor erealistic) Going to give the left headlight another quick go with the plastx then drop it off today. Should give me time to get my new number plate ordered and delivered tho =)
  13. mm.. I like been thinking about trying to move my side indicators down near the front like that too..
  14. was it mine.. did you see the front...? or just the back. mines at the bodyshop there currently..
  15. I have decided on a small oblong shape one and by the looks of some pics ive found it will fit on a pre-made mount thing on the bomex.. so hopefully that works. I know the cops in Hull arent too bad, but dont really want to give them any more reason to pull me What did they say to you regarding yours Si, is it a fine or did they let you off with a warning and told you to sort it out? whats the dimensions of it? I got hold of the dimensions and figured out how small they can be - uk standard ones are 501mm wide!! theyre huge..
  16. I dont fancy drilling into the front. I would be focusing too much on not messing it up and end up messing it up.. Found a pic of a bomex.. i can just make out what looks like a plate mounting bracket of some sort - have not seen the bumper properly yet, but perhaps the bomex comes with a pre-allocated area for the plate which will mean I can stop trying to figure out where to put it! http://www.zteamyossi.com/image/wallpapers/zty_supra_1024.jpg Im leaning towards the oblong shaped, as the square one on my stock bumper was rubbing on the bottom and had damaged the paintwork underneath the bottom part of it.. which I dont want happening with the new bumper. Gone slightly off topic here I know - apologies to OP.
  17. Yeah agree totally I want it to be legal for definate, but at the same time not look silly. Says on craigsplates.com the standard UK size number plate is 520mm wide by 111mm high, or 280mm by 2033mm, theyre huge! a98pmalcolms looks good, still deciding on square or oblong though - and if no mounting space on the bomex ill try and attach it to the wire mesh (anything to avoid drilling into bumper.. im liable to naff it up) as a few on here have done
  18. Im realising just how grey it is AdzC, easy to see how it can be interpreted wrong too. from craigsplates.com: "DVLA do not specify the size of plate your vehicle must display but do specify the font you must use, the height of this font, minimum margin size, gap between lines (if a two line plate) etc. If your vehicle qualifies as an imported vehicle and can satisfy the above criteria then you can legally display a plate with bike size font (64mm) rather than the standard UK car size font (79mm). DVLA do not specify the gap between two-line registrations nor the minimum margin for imports. " From the 2002 regulations.. "" Size and spacing of characters: special cases 14A. - (1) This regulation applies in relation to any vehicle imported into the United Kingdom which - (a) does not have European Community Whole Vehicle Type Approval; and (b) is so constructed that the area available for the fixing of the registration plate precludes the display on the plate of a registration mark in conformity with the requirements of regulation 14. (2) In relation to a vehicle to which this regulation applies - (a) each character in the registration mark must be 64 millimetres high; (b) the width of each character of the mark, other than the letter "I" and the figure "1", must be 44 millimetres; © the width of every part of the stroke forming a character in a mark must be 10 millimetres; (d) the spacing between any two characters within a group must be 10 millimetres; (e) the vertical spacing between groups of characters must be 5 millimetres; (f) the width of a margin between the mark and the top and lateral sides of the registration plate must be not less than 5 millimetres; (g) the space between the bottom of the mark and the bottom of the registration plate must be not less than 13 millimetres; but, within that space, the space between the bottom of the mark and the top of the name and postcode of the person by whom the plate was supplied must be not less than 5 millimetres."[3]" My calculations come out at: Oblong shape.. 6 digit reg.. minimum legal height / width: Height = 82mm Width = 324mm Square shape 6 digits minimum legal height / width: Height = 156mm Width = 162mm Above assuming no 1 or I in the reg. Does that look right? It wouldnt have a space on the oblong in between the two groups of numbers so might look a bit strange.
  19. From the looks of things a supra can be classified as an import, so we qualify for smaller lettering.. but ill have to really trawl through this document & related info before I see that as legal fact. Hopefully the link to that document will help others too =)
  20. Going to try and figure out this stuff from http://opsi.gov.uk/si/si2002/20022687.htm - I am having a bomex fitted and dont know exactly where to fit, where is legal, what I can and cannot do etc.. Should make for some nice nightime reading! From what ive gathered so far on these forums.... Driving without one in visible sight on the front = max £30 fine and producer - no points Driving with one visible in the windscreen = £30 fine + 3 points + producer Driving with one not mounted vertically = £30 fine + 3 points + producer Driving with one not meeting regulations (size, angle, spacing) = £30 fine + 3 points + producer ....And to be very polite and helpful if/when stopped (which I always am ) so.. when I pick my car up.. I figure ill drive with the number plate in the back seat until I get home, then figure out where to put it! pretty convinced ill get stopped though because I look young (blessing and a curse!) - but my original plate is damaged so need to get a new one too
  21. Aye, think Hulls a bit far for you Not sure when we can plan this for im without my car for a few more days at least On that note trying to figure out where to stick a number plate on a bomex bumper
  22. I added 3LL yesterday, I think Supra_si goes to the nippon meets? could be an idea for a pre-supra one then head down to the nippon lot?
  23. Yeah the polystyrene came out of there too lol.. interesting name toyota give it.. "energy absorber".. technically correct but still its just polystyrene lol
