I was down prinny ave having lunch and drinks with an old friend so missed it, didnt get finished till gone 3. How was it? Good turn out?

gonna get the dent fixed on my wing before attending anything, too embarrasing lol saw that silver one again tonight parked outside beiritz or however its spelt.. thinking it belongs to a bouncer maybe? pretty sure i saw elliot cruising around too lol
-
only had it two months i think the numbers are creeping up. 3 black, 1 silver 1 red 1 white that i know of so far. Sounds like your project is well on the way, im still on the bodywork stage not even touched the engine lol. I saw what yours was like when you first got it - youve done a great job fixing it so far
-
yeah, definately agree it makes sense to have it securely fitted. ive secured it now, but the bar at the back of it that is holding it down doesnt look too sturdy so im going to have that looked at and fixed asap. getting it up on the ramps this week hopefully to check the break line plastic cover thing that acts like a water trap. I didnt know battery should show 13-14v.. thought that was when it was running and charging? this reading was taken when the engine was off. will get the meter out again and give it another test. i dont know how long the prev owner was driving around with the battery like that.. but it didnt even get mentioned on the MOT report he gave me from March. maybe he got it after the MOT.

its a work in progress finished sorting out the new sidelights / repeaters recently.. and just mid-refurb of the headlights. cant figure out how to get the wax off of the sideskirts from last time i cleaned it though i do like the look of the UK spec vent.. and yours sounded awesome too Didnt look dirty! I like the look of red supes, plus non-black doesnt always look filthy 5 minutes after you finish cleaning it. snowfoamed, clayed and paint cleaned mine earlier and it already looks like it needs doing again.. argh

Will do, ill borrow the one off my dads van. its stopped behaving weirdly since this afternoon when i added the slabs of wood to make the battery more secure.. so fingers crossed i havnt blown the cells. not one person ive spoke to other than the mechanics knew about it being 3 points if your battery isnt like.. properly stapped down. mine has a bar keeping it in place but that was a little loose hence the need for the wood - apparently its an advisory on the MOT but still get 3 points for it.. could do to have that as an MOT fail thing to raise awareness.

Was behind you (red UK) on my way home down bev rd, had just picked up the jetwash to snowfoam mine .. seen you a few times.. makes me want a turbo.. Silver in witham, by a large pub not sure which.. was parked up friday night.. front bumper bit damaged, think its a manual too. Both on here i assume?

sort of. i couldnt figure it out checked out all the earth points that i could find from the search tool here and tighened up battery connectors again, as well as checking every fuse i could find.. but it would still loose power like a mini in car brown out.. i got it running, got to tescos turned it off and then it wouldnt go again.. had a fiddle around with battery again till it fired up and then took it to garage. Found something i didnt know - if your battery isnt properly secure in its tray thats 3points on your license which i wasnt aware of. seems previous owner replaced with a smaller battery so it moved around in the tray. Ive secured that with a bit of wood on the top of it for now.. and it seems to have solved it fngers crossed. perhaps i loosened something by accident when i accidently connected it via the wrench to the frame... and the fitment in the battery tray let it move a bit and it had caused it to behave like that... but fingers crossed it will stay fixed. Garage couldnt tell me what was wrong tho.. other than to secure it with the wood.

guide:- how to paint your dash or any other part!

hehe quite possibly. the satin black finish i tried first was a bit too shiney, but a "shiny matt black" might be just right. Ill try to figure out how to get that switcher control cover out tomorrow and give that a go. edit.. post-lacquering.. really really brings the colour out, makes it look better.. v pleased -

Think one layer of lacquer will be enough to protect but not make shiney? think ill give the ashtray a try with one layer and post how it goes -
I know theres two different lengths at least not sure about thickness, i had two failed cuts before i ordered the blank TRD key from ebay (came from Japan). the previous ones i got cut just werent long enough and cost me 7quid in total for nada

echoing daman and others response regarding the motherboard. tbh that system looks like it needs a bit of an upgrade anyways.. some fairly cheap pcs to be had these days which would bring you up to date. the mobo may not be able to support the speed of your new memory, and it could also have an issue supplying the voltage. 2.6v to me looks a bit weird.. i run pc8500 at 2.1v, and when i was clocking it once i reached a voltage or speed which wouldnt work (trial and error) it would beep at me on boot - so thats why im thinking its to do with the motherboard. As Duncz says it could be easier building your own system - its really not that hard to do you just need to research which stuff works with the motherboard - if you know what your motherboard is.. then you can go from there. As for the processors theyre all cut from the same sheet, you just pay for the rating assigned at that point - but these days.. theyre so easily overclocked. you can push a 2.4ghz dual core to 3.0 without even adding extra cooling. Plenty of good "how to" guides out there too - personally i think getting the right motherboard is key. Alternatively.. if your not sure on baggage allowances and dont wanna try building one.. buy a pre-build one.. and take bits out of it (graphics cards / hdds / psu`s easy to remove) and ship them out later seperately.. just use a cam to take pics of "before" so you can remember what to plug into where once its all shipped across? normal DDR memory is "old" these days too, new system would probably have DDR2, if not DDR3 (i think latest motherboards now use DDR3 as board memory). would be a hefty performance upgrade too

on the plastic replacement key i had it was a "TR47P" if that helps any?
-
Per MarkR found said keys on ebay, and got them cut (had to try three different key cutters though due to the blade length not fitting the machines) http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/9056/14082009676.th.jpg bigger pic = http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/9056/14082009676.jpg

http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=195621 Think i posted this in the wrong place initially (supra chat) as i was in a bit of a panic as the alarm was chirping and randomly setting itself off.. Any help appreciated - basically ive managed to link the positive terminal of the battery to the chassis using a wrench whilst trying to remove headlight - big sparks and now some strange electrical behaviour... and im totally clueless with cars at the best of times!
-
aye me too. too dark to even attempt it right now but managed to get the alarm and immobiliser to work. going to have a look tomorrow and see if i can sort it. only happened cuz i wanted to avoid getting plast-rx on the paint whilst im trying to clean up the headlights. argh.
-
managed to connect positive terminal to the chassis of the car whilst trying to remove passenger side headlight to refurb it. so now the cars doing weird stuff like putting the aeriel up and down even though its off (its decided to keep it up for now) and lights flickering inside on and off - which my alarm is not too fond of and went off too. now the engine wont start, just "switches" off when i try to turn ignition. going to have to fiddle with it tomorrow to try and fix it. will check japtech out, as i need to get some bodywork done too and possibly this electrical thing looked at by someone who knows what they are doing.
-
sounds like a quite reasonable price then, especially considering p 17eed`s comment do japtech do electrics ?? just naffed my electrics up somehow tonight =/ learning the hard way

where from ice? i have a receipt here from previous owner of mine for a cambelt change in Feb 09. cambelt = 79.89 labour = 40 sub total 119.89 VAT 17.98 total 137.87 This was done at the garage where the seller of the car worked though, so probably done with discount - so your charge sounds.. roughly right. The garage / servicing section of that dealership i bought my car from doesnt exist any more though (they lost the mechanic), but as im having a lot of issues with the previous owner of the car wouldnt reccomend it anyways but hopefully this gives you somethign to compare against

Hi guys, Was just in process of removing headlight near the passenger side. the ratchet which was in contact with the screw accidently touched the battery positive, and caused some sparks. I think its reset the car electronics or something - but now my toad sterling one alarm is making an intermittent fast beep, possibly indicating its running on reserve battery. any one know how to fix stuff like that? cant leave it making that noise Cheers edit - alarm stopped beeping (not going off, just weak beeping) so we had a check. used a meter on the battery giving 12v reading. the lights inside were flickering a little, and the door ajar beep was sounding, but very faintly. the stereo is not connected yet the aeriel decided to go up. When the car door was shut, putting the key in usually makes the green ring around ignition glow, but it seems to only dimly glow and flicker. now that ive managed to silence the alarm and leave it with just the immobiliser ive had time to search forums - as when i originally posted alarm was going off. Im going over exactly what i did. put the wratchet onto the uppermost bolt of the passenger side headlamp, its in an awkward way and i had an extention to help with getting the angle. was turning to loosen the screw and the metal extention part of the tool touched the positive connector on the battery causing sparks. Could this have loosened / damaged the battery connection between the positive? Would it have been possible to damage an earth or something doing that possible blown fuse? just after it happened trying to turn the ignition on ended with a click and then electrics went dead, but could retry and same result. clocks gone and reset itself too.. any ideas?

bit of writing on the dash panel that covers the odometer.. it just says "reset" and something else.. just gonna paint over it i think Seen some other peoples dash conversions and it looks like they left the casing with PRND21 alone, so going to follow suit. cant figure out how to get it out of the dash and if i did oretty sure i couldnt do much because of the lettering etc. ive almost completed two parts of mine -

Quick question here.. you know that part around the auto-shifter.. with the PRND21 thingey.. did you refurb that, or leave it? i can sort of figure out "how" to get it off but not quite sure how to sand it down, prime it and paint it with the gear indicators not.. "vanishing" same for the odometer panel with the writing.. im not too fussed about the writing on that panel, but say for instance you were.. how are they handled? a case of sand over and then try to replace the writing later or sand around as carefully as possible ? and then the spraying.. bit confused bout them bits. how did you approach it? -

Right, onto my second try. Ditched the Astral Black and went with Halfords Matt Black. It looks very nice - first coat applied lightly just enough but can still see primer behind it slightly. it dried to a very nice matt black but needed to put another coat on.. just sanded it a little (didnt use "wet" just used dry wet & dry 1500) and applied 2nd coat, going to leave that some 15 hours to dry overnight and whilst im at work.. Will just the paint (from a rattle can) be tough enough or should i lacquer it.. and if i lacquer it how do i stop it going shiney or .. dont i ? i dont want it shiney -
