  1. Hi Greg, you did seem a restless Supra owner at the show. Jake is up for a big single seeing he got a strong offer for his at the NEC so may be worth having a chat with him.

We did spread out as we set up and found extra bits of carpet to lay down. There was a good, safe gap between the cars so people weren't having to push against the cars when passing between the cars.
  3. The Toyota GB guys did say the MkV will be welcomed by the MkIV crowd and that we will be pleasantly surprised by the concept and power. They seemed upbeat on it but maybe when you are top lining at a 2l GT86 you can get easily excited?
  4. I was looking at an e-type roadster for moi. Is he doing the conversion himself or having a company do it for him, if a company who would that be. The parts cost of a conversion is nothing really and I've been told by a jag expert its not a long or hard job to do so i'd assume it must be fairly reasonable cost wise. You can still get roadsters in the USA for $60,000 that are when neat and tidy £110k here.
  5. No, they were being so complimentary about my car I couldn't bring myself to do that. Guess I got suckered into being nice.
  6. The Whifbitz SMIC is good, I have one fitted myself. Think I'd rather give the £70 to the tax man and get a new one than get a used one ex-VAT.
  7. Toyota GB group stopped by the Supra NEC stand at last weekends classic car show and did mention the new MkV. I asked if it would have a BMW derived engine and they said it wouldn't, that it'd be a Toyota drivetrain. They were cagey on aspects so it could be something whacky like a hybrid coming out. Said the launch date would be Spring to Summer 2018. They also said they really regret selling (for charity) their UK museum Castrol liveried Supra two years ago and that anyone with a stock or near stock Supra MkiV TT6 (especially in white) should be locking it up, wrapping it in bubble wrap and only bringing it out once a year for its MOT test. They clearly don't know Supra owners very well.

Others took way more pics than I did and hopefully they can add in some but to get the ball rolling here are the few taken before the show opened.
  9. Its not a strange thing to see in the classic car World. You only need to look at the numbers of old Jaguars, Austin and MGs now coming home from the USA. about half of the e-types for sale these days as Yank left hookers returned to the UK.
  10. Seriously, you did receive a seriously strong offer on the stand yesterday but its only recovering what the car owes you in parts and that is with giving lots of free man hours on the time you and your father put into it. If I had so much of my dad's input into my car I would never let it go. He did say he wasn't going to do another one for you so recovering the cost of the parts you have fitted isn't worth it to lose that I did this with my dad that you'll really cherish in 20 years time if you hold onto it.
  11. Hi Mark.... Little chat - wasn't it about an hour and a half? I thought your wife was very tolerant. Yes, I'll take your red one off you. Just PM over the price please.
  12. Anything around here gets its share of cow shit but that comes with the territory of living with nothing but 30 mile views. She did get swayed by me talking up Supras all weekend at the NEC such that I even convinced her they must be a good car. Surprised you are considering going single but then you know that's just me and I really don't like venturing too far from stock. Looks like we all came back from the NEC with a renewed Supra bug, I'm expecting to see wanted ads from everyone else who was there later today. Did you get back OK - I had a clear run home (in the rain!) so was back in the garage by 19:30 followed by 20 minutes drying the car off?
  13. Women are a truly mystical species. Mine isn't into cars at all but she attended the NEC with me this week and now she wants me to buy a second Supra. I have a Jspec TT6 BPU so would probably have a slight preference to stable it alongside a UK car but that's only a slight preference. The only real requirement is it as near to stock as possible and be an original, out of the factory, TT6 with preferably original VIN plate correct paint. Not really into plastic add on parts or excessive bling. BPU or standard power both OK but nothing higher. Not in a hurry, anytime will do. I have had my current Supra for almost 19 years so I'm looking for any addition really must be an excellent long term ownership prospect. No budget in mind as no two cars are worth the same but not interested in paying a premium either. If anyone has a car available or sees one come up elsewhere I'd appreciate the heads up.
  14. Don't do it - you know blue is a ladies colour
  15. He is considering a near £30k offer made at the NEC Classic Car show yesterday so way beyond the £18k the OP is budgeted to. For anyone thinking of selling their cars I'd recommend taking theirs to the show as there are lots of people looking to buy and making offers. Had three people asking to buy my car and lots others asking if it was for sale. Also had the Toyota GB guys all over it because my one was the closest to stock.
  16. Hi Mark, Just back myself from the show. I'm sure whoever organises the stand next year would love to have one of your UK TT6's on stand, or maybe even both? Try a PM to Ian Ian who started this thread and I'm sure he will sort things as he has organised the NEC event for a while. Everyone will be envious. Barry
  17. That's amazingly cheap for a back to rolling shell respray. I assume it means car delivered to the sprayer everything out and that would still be a very cheap price. Post who the quote is with then if its a good job I'm sure they would get lots more business.
  18. To Ian ---- Couldn't reply to your PM so sent you a new PM with all the personal info. Think that's gone OK, if not let me know.
  19. The wife, she says yes. Plan is I would arrive Thursday afternoon with the car at the same time as everyone else is planning to arrive and she would join me Friday evening late after she has finished work and things. She would be with me all Saturday and head off Sunday early. So if I could slog the stand Friday and Sunday and have good amount of time to walk around on Saturday with the wife as I do have a good number of classic cars anyway and she wouldn't want to be tied to the Supra all day. If that works for everyone bearing in mind Saturday is going to be the busiest foot fall day then we are in. If its all good with everyone else on the stand then I'll PM over my contact details to finalise the arrangements.
  20. Reads like a fun few days and give me an excuse to get the buffer and cleaning kit out on the Supra - I'll pin the wife down as soon as she gets in and have a go or no go from my end over to you later this evening.
  21. I could probably to do it with my White stock looking TT6 if there is still one space as I don't need to ask anyone but the missus and after 18yr ownership would have plenty to tell passers by the thrills of owning an iconic Supra. How far is the hotel from the NEC and what would be the plan for evening entertainment.
  22. I was thinking single but decided 3 years ago long term the cars value will be enhanced by its originality so I'd likely go hybrid twins. Seems I can expect them to fail any day!
  23. I always spray dinitrol 3125 into the sections and crevices where a paint brush or spray paint wont reach.
  24. that's hard to know beyond it has a start and a finish. A bit like Turbos in a car will usually last at least and go as far as. All I know is my pair are still fine at 110k miles, hence the question on other reference points. You have to at least find the string before you can size it up.
  25. No idea, there are no gauges or even adjustable or variable valves that I've seen or found in 18 years of ownership. I'd suspect it is boosted beyond standard as it rolling road tested about 10 years ago with 340bhp at the drive wheels.
