hey all, im in a bit of 2 minds with my supra. as you know its the n/a and this engine is the sweetest engine i have seen in a long time. so clean and sounds and runs so perfectly, never any problems and pulls so well. now im changing to the TT in mid aprill but it seams a shame to waste the engine when it is so nice. every other jap owner down here coments all the time on how nice it is. so do i 1. sell the engine and get only £300 knowing how good it is 2. dont do the TT swap and keep running with this engine which i dont want to do. 3. see if anyone out there has a nice TT with a blown engine or something or a good donor in the cornor of there yard. help me out guys cause im really in a confusion jez
  3. you sure its not turning? on air con pumps they spin freewheel untill you press the air con button inside and the clutch on the pump kicks in and then the whole pulley spins up. will look like its not turning untill this happens .

  5. hope not mate... ill have ya pint thought so no need to worry lol. serious, take it easy
  6. look at the saying under your name made for this post lol, just tickled me
  7. i recon its a fueling issue. have you had a new filter lately?
  8. normaly it happens in paypal, when it takes you to the payment page. always done it for me.
  9. same here, let me know if there not in stock up there as mine is at the bottom of my road lol
  10. not a problem, its hard when you havnt got the car in front of you lol, hope you get it sorted
  11. from what i know already on that engine, the throttle cable, idle control valve and thats it, the throttle position sensor does what it says on the tin. is your fuel pressure ok?
  12. should only have 1 i think? as i say im a bit unsure untill i get mt TT. id say its a fuel problem but dont quote me on that. anyone else got an idea???
  13. tbh i havnt fitted my TT engine yet so im unsure what else holds the throttle open or controls anything apart from the idle control valve. a fully open butterfly will certainly stall the engine if there isnt the correct mixture of fuel also being added.
  14. try turning the engine off, then hold the throttle open fully and see how far the butterfly opens. if its only opening slightly then it wont be getting enough air for full throttle. you should hear it sucking in air, thats good

  16. i dont see how your engine will run with it shut? it probably isnt shut, itll be open very slightly, the more you open the throttle, the further open it will be untill full throttle = flap fully open. does it sound like a missfire when you have the problem? perhaps plugs or an air leak if you have changed the idle control valve? can you hear a leak? jez
  17. just done a full replacement on mine. brand new stuff. what pics you after? i can get them on here tomorow?
  18. i have one or a few http://www.splat.eu.com ill happyly offer my services
  19. not sure what to remove on the location of it on a supra. but in general, changing a core plug can be tricky. easyest way i find is to use a small but strong and sharp headed screwdriver and keep tapping it in but in towards the centre aswell (to stop damaging the head/block. once you have been patient lol and got through you can carefully prise it out. be patient they can take a while, and be very very carefull not to damage the engine. always best to get a garage to do it if your not confident. once its out clean up the area with a little emery cloth and make sure there is nothing left in the chamber. i normally leave the coolant all in so it helps put pressure behind the plug. i use a socket on a small extention, the exact size of the core plug inside and tap it in will a little white grease. carefull again, dont deform the plug, if you deform it even slightly then youll have to start again. once nearly in all the way use a bigger socket and flush it in.
  20. well said million times better than ie
  21. glad you found it. next time put some hair round it
  22. do you have microsoft office? if so i can send you the complete autodata guide
  23. resistors are hard to test, best bet is try a spare from someone, but usualy on moast cars when there is only 1 or 2 fan speeds working then it ends up being this. the fan motor will only be an on/off (should be) and the resistor is what controlls the speed signal to it. try a new resistor first, someone here may have one
  24. do the supras have a resistor? if so that could be the problem. not sure the heating contorols take power form the stereo iso harness though if it has a resistor then High speed feeds straight +12V to the motor, but the lower speeds drop the motor voltage through the resistor. The lower speeds usually fail first, because that's when the resistor gets hottest and doesn't get cooled because the air is also moving over it the slowest but as i say im unsure the mk4 has a resistor.
