Mine was rattling / vibrating something terrible, sitting in traffic and when at higher revs, I bought new rubbers etc but when it was being serviced the bloke found the gearbox to exhaust bracket had broken so he welded it back up. No more rattles for about a week until it broke again. I bought a new one 17506-46180 was the one for my 94 auto N/a, can't remember how much, reckon less than £20, haven't actually had a look yet to see what other bits are needed, looks like there must be some sort of clamp to go round the pipe or something.

I reckon its this 17141D BOLT, STUD (FOR O2 SENSOR) 90126‑08001 2JZGE..JZA80 4 $3.85 If you google 90126-08001 it seems to be common to a lot of models, is listed here as well but no picture, just says standard part but does say for TT http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_J_1994_TOYOTA_SUPRA_JZA80-AJPQZ_1701.3.html

'im with the RAC £287 fully comp =protected n/c' Unless you are really old like me or 200 miles away from anyone, which I understand is possible in Wales, you might want to check with the Rac that they actually have the right car ! When I bought mine I had a complete mission with the AA ( Automobile Association ? what a joke ) Put me down for a Mk3 first, then said they couldn't find the car then had a 5 day delay when I told them it had different wheels and an exhaust, they finally sorted it out, I had a few months left on my existing car and they didn't charge much extra, but when it came to renewal I got a letter saying they wouldn't insure me in it !
-
I got my renewal the other day from A Flux and it said on it 19 years Ncb, I have always had renewals which say the no claims bonus quite clearly. However, it also says that 'included' within my renewal premium of £489 is a £30 policy issue fee and £15 personal accident cover. £30 is quite a result for them for printing one sheet of paper and including a crappy 4 page 'policy' plus I never asked for the personal cover. Although when I changed from Sky to A Flux last year I told them I had a Thatcham cat 1 alarm with an install certificate and sent them a copy of it but on the shedule it says Cat 2 ! Pretty much, all insurance companys are complete crap imo, whats the point in them asking me about an alarm for which I sent them the certificate for and then they put the wrong one down ? You may as well make your own certificate out of a cornflake packet and see if they notice.

It goes by the engine code, should they not be able to find the car by the reg number, so if you put a 2jz gte engine in it should have the cat test even though the car was originally an NA, unless of course the mot tester has done them before and just puts it down as a non datbase NA. NA engine code 2jz ge is not on the datbase as that engine was never fitted to anything Toyota ever sold as a Uk car, where the 2jz gte is the same engine code as a Uk TT, hence the need for a TT J spec to have a Cat test, doesn't matter if its an import or not, engine was used in a Uk car so it will be on the database where the Na is not and never will be. All the Op should need to do is print of the sheet from the Mot manual and take the car back and ask for a re test as a non cat as that is cleary what the NA should have done.
-
Look on here http://www.motuk.co.uk/manual_730.htm the bottom paragraph has a link to the sheet from the mot testers manual. It clearly states, if the engine cannot be found on the database, which on an NA it cannot, the car is subject to a non cat test, simples.
-
Thats a cat test result, non cat is 3.5 % CO and 1200 ppm HC, you would have passed that easily. I have never had anything about the Lambda or the print out for the emissions on mine. Cat test says CO = 0.3 %, HC = 200 ppm and Lambda = 0.97 - 1.03, so no wonder it failed, you need to be taking it back and getting them to do that bit again
-
Did he tell you what it was and what it should be ? Theres a sheet on here somewhere on the mot questions thread I think that shows that an N/A should have a non cat test. I leave that sheet pinned to the back of the old mot cert with the yes / no route marked in highlighter, and make sure the bloke who takes it for the test after the service has some sort of relationship with the mot tester so he won't get hacked off by someone telling him how he should do an mot, I would have thought that if its a non cat test done and your double the allowed readings theres some other problem

sorry but.. what you reckon on this? (Supra on eBay)

The white one looks like the passenger door is a bit stuffed in, the the drivers door gap at the front looks a bit dodge, could just be the pictures I guess, plus it doesn't look like it's got any wheels on it ! Looking at the width of the bodykit, specially on the rear arches it looks like it may have had a decent set of wheels to fill them out fitted that have been taken off, again, may just be the pictures. That said, if I was still looking for one, at that sort of money I'd definately go and have a look at that. -
Provisonaly sold pending payment

I ordered this in error for my N/A. It is I am told for a J spec TT. It goes on the downpipe where the exhaust gas sensor fits. The part number is 17502-46080, also to include the gasket part number 90917-06056. Hardly worth selling as both bits only came to £13 but it might do someone a turn, pick it up for free if you want it from SE3 or £5 posted, UK only
-
Set of four, brand new in box, part number STY01004-4P, I believe these fit both TT and N/A. £40 posted, UK only.
-
I am sure they just make it up as they go along, it follows no reason that I can see as I constantly see people half my age paying less insurance for a TT than I do at 49 for an N/A and I have 20 years plus no claims and no points for 10 years. The first year I was with Sky which was such a relief to find someone who knew about cars as when I bought it and swapped over the few months left I had on my old car with the AA when I told them it had different wheels and an an exhaust it was like I'd told them I'd had a flux capacator fitted or something. They couldn't even find the car on thier database, the Automobile Association !
-
Not seen one exactly like that before, but it might be the sort where you have to prise the side out first, I would have thought possibly the white bit lifts up first, if you have ever taken a mobile phone or a digital camaera apart they have tiny ribbon cables that are held in place by a lift up clamp, sort of like that, you have to lift up the clamp to get the thing apart.
-
What to do, what to do ? If no one else wants one of them I'll have them both, one for spare. Pm me payment details and I'll sort it out.
-
I was amazed by the high standard of Supras, all looked pretty much mint. I was a bit ashamed of mine so parked up the end and pretended I had a Civic. It has inspired me to sort mine out, I shall probably start by hoovering out the 1/2 inch of bits of baccy off the centre console and go from there.

Wanted please, have money, will do paypay, cheque or cash asap, up to £35. Found an old bill for one fitted to mine for a new one in 2008, £167.00 new ! 3 years isn't long for something that expensive to last,

I think the first cat is in the downpipe, the second one is further along in the part shown as 17410 on here http://www.internetwork.org.uk/part_num/eng_fuel/images/1702.gif The single pipe type replaces the whole lot from the bottom of the downpipe back and runs in a different route from the Y section, I have a Blitz Nurspec on mine and it doesn't much seem to follow the original route, although it is a lovely bit of kit I personally would have rather have a back box to replace the original one as the Blitz is much lower than the standard one and is always hitting the ground, plus it resonates terribly. I am sure there were 2 standard ones for sale in the for sale section, plus a weld on one to replace just the backbox somewhere.

Great idea, but if it did happen its never going to be 19p a litre as it would be taxed to the hilt like everything else, no government could afford not to, no one would be buying petrol with the duty of 59p a litre plus 20p a litre vat on it as well so no way is it going to be cheaper than petrol. I believe this sort of technology is far more advanced than we know, any government knows oil wont last forever but they are hardly going tooffer up a free replacement even if they have it. Just like Lpg, a few years ago you could claim back the cost of fitting the kit, or a large portion of it, we had all our petrol vans at work done or bought new Combi vans with it allready fitted, I'm sure Lpg was 30p a litre then or something now its over 70 p I think, its like as soon as they got loads of people hooked on it they started to ramp up the tax on it. My brother has an 5.8 litre dodge ram converted to Lpg, the price he pays for the Lpg for his central heating tank in the garden I think is about half the price as it costs in a petrol station, how can this be ? there is no difference between what goes in his truck compared to what goes in his central heating other than the stuff sold in petrol stations has twice the duty on it now. There was something on the radio the other day about the government considering not putting the 1 p a litre on in april that they were going to, this would cost them £500 million in lost revenue in order to 'help the motorist' 1 p a litre is not any help at all, considering they stand to lose £500 million for a penny a litre when they are currently getting 59 p a litre plus the 20 p a litre with the Vat you can see what a truly massive income they get from petrol tax and there is no way they are ever going to put it down or allow any other sort of tech to emerge which might lose them this revenue unless it is equally taxed, they just cannot afford to.

I bought new glass Uk headlights for mine when I got it due to the originals being all yellowed. I was very surprised at how little difference it made, I was expecting great things from them but it didn't seem to make that much difference. After I fitted them I took it to Kwiksplit to have them adjusted correctly and the bloke couldn't get the high beams to get anywhere near where they should be after he had adjusted the dipped beam and these were brand new lights from Toyota. You can't adjust the high and dipped seperately apparently so I might have ended up with a bit of a compromise, the near side pattern looks ok but the drivers side seems low, probably so if I ever used high beam it won't be blinding everyone else. If I ever get around to it im going to buy a set of Hids off the group buy on here and have the lights re adjusted to dip being in the right place and worry about passing the Mot next January when it happens.

Which was 2 rear tyres on the limit, I thought thats pretty good for a 16 year old car, but couldn't see how I had worn out a set of rears in a year seeing I had 4 new tyres for the last Mot, again that was the only advisory and don't do more than 6000 miles a year, or so I thought. I was amazed when I checked I have done a tad over 12,000 miles, now I know it's no use crying over how much petrol these things use compared to some other cars but I thought I would try and work it out, based on, 25 mpg and petrol at an average of £1.10 a litre over the last year I have bought 2179 litres or 480 gallons which comes to £2396 which is £46 per week or £199 a month, if it was 20 mpg which I think is more likely its £2996 a year just in petrol, probably more as my £1.10 figure is probably under as well. So, in the last year, with the services and the 4 tryes last year, the service and the 2 tyres this year I reckon its cost me over £4000 in a year, that's without tax and insurance the cost of running the car is about £80 a week, probably £100 if I factor in the insurance and tax. I am ok with that, given the sort of car it is and the enjoyment had from it, £100 a week doesn't seem too bad.

The actual siren will be under the bonnet somewere and has a plastic cover over the key slot, I don't know if it actually turns off the whole alarm or is just used to silence the siren. I would guess looking at the key and fob it may well be an old scorpion alarm, if it is the key hole is definately on the siren, least it was on the 2 I have had.
