  1. I dont understand where it says at the start that they are stripped and examined and any worn parts relaced, then lower down it says they have all had new big ends etc, but not rings, you might think that if they were stripping them and replacing the big ends as a matter of course rather than if they were worn if they are replacing the shells or whatever why not put a set of rings in at the same time, but it says only if worn for rings.
  2. Personally I would rather have a 1/4 repaired than replaced, if its pulled out properly there should only be a thin skim of filler and far less invasive to the car than cutting out the old one and replacing it. Obviously if its done properly by an expert it shoud come out fine but my mate has a bodyshop and some of the cars he has had in over the years for repair that have allready been got at by others are frightning, like the pictures above. He makes great efforts to make any new panels put on have the look of the original, even on the bits you cannot see withot remiving trim, the distance between the welds and the way the sealer is brushed on etc, he makes great efforts to make it as hard as possible to see that a panel has been replaced, unlike the above pictures. When the assesor comes round to look at your car they agree a price, somewhere between the price of the bits and the labour the bodyshop thinks it can charge and the price the assesor thinks it should be, if a car is down for a wing and it is agreed but the wing can be repaired they will keep the new wing in stock, the next one which is a crap repair but the assesor will not agree a new panel it might be easier and more profitable for the bodyshop to replace the wing they kept from the last one and so on. So its swings and roundabouts for the bodyshop. If my mate gets a car in and its down for a 1/4 and that is agreed by the assesor, when he comes to repair it and sees its an easy repair he will repair it rather than stick the 1/4 on, again, when he gets the next one in and they wont agree a new panel if its a crap job to repair he will put the panel or part of it on, wether this could be called fraud or not I am not sure, but if the car is repaired to a high standard does it matter ?
  3. Have searched and searched on here but cannot find contact details for the bloke that does the galss headlights, steve manley, can anyone point me in the right direction ?
  4. Look at these, up to £225, looking at the large picture of one of them unless I am mistaken and somehow the sidelights are somewhere else the sidelight lens pod thingys have been completely painted over, someone is going to be vey happy come Mot time. 300297271767 I cant do a 'link', I still think in pounds, shillings and pence and its quite beyond me.
  5. Absolute tool. I am surprised how quick it feels compared to the mk3 I had, that felt quite powerful but I wouldn't say quick, but the mk4 feels like a different car, much more lively and responsive, the automatic gearbox is superb. I have had cars pushing out the same bhp but this just feels better. I have to say I am so pleased I bought one, storm blue ( I think ) 94 n/a auto, and I kept going out of the office for a fag and just to look at it today in the carpark. It's flipping lovely.
  6. Standing in front of the car working inwards, on the outside of both headlights there are 2 projector beam looking things, obviously the main / dip bulbs, but in the 'middle' as it were there are extra dustbin lid sized reflectors. I thought it might be the sidelights but having turned them on i see they are in the bottom of the headlights. What are the other large reflectors for ? I thought perhaps front fogs for some countrys ?
  7. My mate has a bodyshop, and after he has peeled them off he uses a buffer wheel thingy in an air drill, I have no idea what it is made of but it looks like a Caramac bar colour and it even smells like one, so either its made out of Caramac or Caramac bars have the same stuff as this wheel in them ? But, it takes off the glue and any remnants of sticker in seconds and leaves no residue at all and can just be polished straight away.
  8. Silver, White or Black N/A. Don't mind auto or manual, must have alarm. Have up to 3.5k maximum for the right car, would like one near to standard apart from maybe wheels and exhaust and sounds. I live in kent and work in south london and am not willing to travel too far, I'd rather go to bournemouth than enfield to look at one. Must be at least good condition, and by 'good condition' I mean really in good condition, I know thats open to individual opinion but if you say 'immaculate inside and out' it must really be that, I would entertain one with a bit of bodywork needed but not one that needs mechanics doing. I have seen 3 so far and none are really as described in advert. Anything considered, but no donkeys.

    I want one

I am in the 'quality area' of St pauls Cray. I keep looking at them for sale and thinking I should really have one, they are so cheap now, well a non turbo is anyway, and so much car for the money, but then I think its just not worth having anything that you are pretty sure will get scratched, I think the sight of that huge rear spoiler would just attract too much attention where I live. Its a no win situation, if I move further out its a whopping petrol bill every week, if I stay where I am I can't have the car I want, sob.

    I want one

A Mk4, oh yes, if only. Having had a Mk2 and a Mk3 I have always wanted a Mk4, ever since my mates dad who used to own a Toyota garage got his first brand new one in and I had a sit in it. The sad thing is, I have the money to buy the car, I could afford the petrol as I only work 2 miles away, I could afford the insurance as I am an old git, but where I live the Chavs would ruin it.
