I have e-mailed the Parts Gateway to find out what the price of new font bumper and NSF quarter panel is. At least that way i can guage as to whether it's worth doing it myself - well get the parts and pay for someone to do it!!!

Only downside (although i will probably keep the car and run it into the ground) is that is will be Cat c or D if i ask them to payout and do the repairs myself. That said, it's still a nice UK Supra and if i can get the parts cheap and sourced 2nd hand, then as there is no other structural damage it might be worth it!!

Dear Budz86 I understand that the garage are getting the estimates from a Toyota garage. That said, perhaps 3 different Toyota dealer/repair shops might quote differently?

I will see what they price the parts up to be. I think the bumper can be more than saved - then i would be happy to use 2nd's to get it back to the road. Therefore i think the option of buying it back might be the route to go. That said, it's the hassle and getting someone in the know to do it.

My understanding you need GAP insurance for this. Whatever you say your car is worth will contradict the Insurance Co's quote

Further to my previous thread, it would look as though the Insurance Company Budget - underwritten by Fortis will be looking to pay me off. I went to the Garage where the car is pending decision and the parts needed to get her on the road are: New front Bumper (Could be repaired from what I can see) New Passenger side front quarter panel New Passenger Headlight. Front and rear tyre and 2 new alloys. I would value my UK TT 93 Plate with 135k Auto between £5-6k which would mean usually an insurnce Co would pay up to 60% repairs to get her on the road, so let's say if the repair bills including labour are more that £3k then they will write her off. Just did a value price search on Parkers and a UK Spec on a 94 plate is valued at £3k trade £4.7k dealer. Peanuts!! What do you think i should do: 1) Haggle over price and don't take first offer 2) let them write it off and buy it back and DIY. 3) Insist they repair and jusitfy the price of parts that are being provided by Toyota, as the Garage have asked Toyota for parts prices by Toyota (The Garage - John Grose Group - Ipswich)

Thanks Budz, yes i believe i am covered for storage and your comments are well received sir. The plan of action (if right off) will be perhaps to buy her back and run her into the ground - would seem harsh to right off a UK spec and be the owner that took her to the grave!!

No courtesy car until the Engineers report is made, probably by Monday and then a decision will be made. I have made my plea to them to save it, but will have to wait and see. What good is insurance if they don't give you a courtesy car until a decision is made to either repair or write off, the later of which means you don't get a courtesy car at all!!! Anyway, my fault, so I will need to sit and take the inconvenience. PS I might try and hold out for £6k but i think £5k is about right for a UK TT Auto in the current climate - especially if they take into account 135k mileage and only SH. We will see, but if i get a pay out, the problem will be trying to persuade my better half to accept that another one will be bought with the cash!!!

Yes i can do over 40mph in 1st in an Auto, i beleive official is something like 45mph, and was changing up and it happend when the change was made.......don't know what speed exactly, but 1st was topping out, so probably over 40mph and yes i know it was wet and i confessed was a mistake

I was accelerating from the roundabout and was changing up from 1st to 2nd in manual mode, so probably 40mph at the most. Actually probably must be more like 50mph as to spin like that, even in the wet was pretty harsh. PS the road is national speed limit 60mph

As i am fully comp, i believe the current strorage is covered until full inspection is made. It was pretty foreceful in saying that i want it repaired, but as i am at fault, i am at the mercy of the insurers (i believe). If I were to get around £5k i think i would take it (although obviously not 1st offer). I would also consider buying back, as i'm sure it could be saved, but yes i don't think really stripping it would be that easy and would be time consuming. It really is a lovely little example (even considering its milegae) but at the end of the day is a piece of metal and i thank god that noone was hurt... 36 years of age and still learning how to drive!!!! That's the problem a moment in lapse of concentration and bang it's all over and it just swang out so quick, i don't even thing the Stig would have stopped it (mind you he probably wouldn't have got himself/herself in that situation!

Yes it's a lump of metal, but it's my pride and joy!!!!!! My better half has said that's it, i can't have another one!!!
