  1. Cheers, ill give it a go. I could take it somewhere else but all the garages round here are run by idiots Ill explain it again, ask him to take me through the guidelines then prove him wrong
  2. Where did you get this info from? I just failed cos my garage reckon the cut off point is 1992 not 95. The MOT guy is coming down later, I could do with some evidence to show him. Cheers.
  3. Cheers James, Ive seen that before and Ithink its out of date now. I'll try showing it to the garage anyway, i wont mention its 5 years old
  4. Tell me about it... i did a search and got a load of conflicting info - some reckon its the chassis code some the engine code. Its either 1992,1994,1995 or not at all that the legislation on imports changed. Someone must know? I havent got a spare cat, so thats out the question. I'll see what the MOT man says before I try to track one down.
  5. I have a de-catted 1993 J-spec and just failed an MOT cos of emissions. I know the garage well and told him what Supra Pilot said last week about pre-1995 Imports having a de-cat test. The garage checked their records and reckon ANY car after 1992 (k reg) has to have a cat test! I needed to get through this MOT cos im trying to sort out a no. plate transfer next week:angry: Anyway, the 'MOT man' is coming tomorrow at four, does anyone have the legislation in writing to prove the garage wrong? Cheers.
  6. I wouldnt be so sure, ask CW about the damage poor filtration can do to turbo blades...
  7. Probably cos they filter worse than the others. They let in more air (and dust), a rebuild or new turbo is nothing to the big drag Supras.
  8. Lots of Jap cars have full leather, the GZ specs all do and I think it was an option on RZ's...
  9. Not sure if its the same thing, but Chevrolet use 'Vortec' engines and I think they do something with super/turbo chargers also...
  10. Hmmmmm... I was doing a steady 80 on the motorway, slowed down to turn off and the speedo stuck at 75 for about 3 miles. It came alive again until I accelerated after a P1 (bloody fast BTW) onto a dual carriageway. The needle stuck at about 40 for a few miles before moving properly again. Ive had no problems with the speedometer since I got the car last May although I suspect its a dodgy KPH/MPH conversion or the needle is sticking somehow. The dial is reads up to 115mph and the odometer is still in KPH... Any ideas?
  11. What about a 'Max Power' AND a 'Fast Car' sticker? Should put you in the low 4's... I dont think knocking a second off 0-60 is possible without major spending and some drag radials. RLTC will help get the power down and a lot of practice launching would be an idea. The Supra doesnt really find its feet until 40+mph, so 0-60 is not really a good reflection of its performance.
  12. Haha, sorry Saying that, TDI quote 37bhp for a cat back exhaust. They must have got their figures from somewhere. Dont worry about the numbers, feel the difference :flame Dev
  13. I was being facetious, sorry just my weird sense of humour Folks always try to put precise BHP gains on mods when there are countless variables but I would guess a gain of ~20-30bhp for the extra boost?? 0.9 Bar sounds about right for a catback exhaust, get rid of the cats and you will see 1.2 bar.
  14. A Blitz Nur-Spec catback will give you 37.3bhp No, I havent got a clue what sort of BHP you'll be putting out but it should have upped your boost to about 1 bar- quicker and harder spooling turbos are the main bonus. Get one, or preferably, both of the cats out for the same gain again. It'll sound meatier as well. You'll need a fuel cut defender (VFCC) if you want to boost over ~1 Bar. Do a search. A boost gauge would also be a good investment to keep an eye on things, especially if you de-cat. J-Specs can overboost. Losing the cats will make way more of a difference than a filter. After market induction kits tend to filter badly and suck in hot air from the engine bay - the stock one is fine but quiet.
  15. The Supra clear repeaters are the same as the Rav4/MR2/Corolla etc, they should just pop in.
  16. Like you say, the stock BOV was probably leaking - its not unheard of. I assume you dont have a boost gauge? You might want to get one to keep an eye on this sort of thing...
  17. Which jammer has this feature? I think the police around here still have Radar guns, but they will prob get laser eventually...
  18. There was a thread on this a while ago, i think 275 + 245's are the max... 'Widest safe tyres on stock 17's'
  19. I managed to drop the wire inside the wing as well, had to fish it out with a bent coathanger... Apart from that it was easy.
  20. Yeah, i'm aware how utterly shite it will look. Buuuttttt, its sunny, theres some nice cars about and im itching to get back in the cockpit... I'll have a ponder...
  21. That is the obvious answer... Unfortunately, my 16" rears are bald so its either dragster style mix and match or i'm driving my van all weekend.
  22. Help! I had a blow out on my nearside front tyre and cant get a replacement tyre by the weekend. I HAVE to have my Supe on the road for Easter weekend! I am thinking of putting my old 16" wheels back on the front - will this mess up the handling too much? I know it will alter the balance with the fronts being narrower... My current fronts are 235/54/17, the ones I want to put on are 225/50/16. The rears are 255/40/17... Cheers.
  23. Welcome... Do a search on induction kits, many reckon they do sod all but sound good, especially on warm days. Any engine damage from poor filtration would be over a long period of time so I wouldnt stress too much. Whereabouts in North Wales are you from?
  24. I have some Falkens and the nearside front tyre fell to pieces last week - the tread and the sidewall totally seperated. I'm not driving my Supra again until I've replaced all four corners... I asked the same question about Jap 16" tyre sizes, they are 225/50 and 245/50... Thread
