  4. Umm it is quite cheap compared to Ink in printers or champagne Petrol £5 per gallon (80% is tax from Government) Billions of pounds to discover and produce etc etc Champagne: £20 bottle (75cc) in Tesco's = £117 per Gallon Ink Cartridge for domestic printer £10 (more or less) = £500000000000 per Gallon Maybe someone will be along to work it out... (I think it is over £1000 per Gallon)
  5. Nearly... Craig Simmons, leader of the Green group on Oxford City Council, said: "Awarding Clarkson an honorary degree devalues Brookes, Oxford and the planet."
  6. PS In the end I didn't tell them anything. Besides he has been a great mechanic and friend for years. I just value the experience of members on here a lot.

    Bike sex anybody?

Repost...? Bugger! Sorry. Nice countdown, think I'll ban myself!
  10. Bit cold for this time of year though Bike sex man placed on probation A man caught trying to have sex with his bicycle has been sentenced to three years on probation. Robert Stewart, 51, admitted a sexually aggravated breach of the peace by conducting himself in a disorderly manner and simulating sex. Sheriff Colin Miller also placed Stewart on the Sex Offenders Register for three years. Mr Stewart was caught in the act with his bicycle by cleaners in his bedroom at the Aberley House Hostel in Ayr. Gail Davidson, prosecuting, told Ayr Sheriff Court: "They knocked on the door several times and there was no reply. "They used a master key to unlock the door and they then observed the accused wearing only a white t-shirt, naked from the waist down. "The accused was holding the bike and moving his hips back and forth as if to simulate sex." Both cleaners, who were "extremely shocked", told the hostel manager who called police. Sheriff Colin Miller told Stewart: "In almost four decades in the law I thought I had come across every perversion known to mankind, but this is a new one on me. I have never heard of a 'cycle-sexualist'." Stewart had denied the offence, claiming it was caused by a misunderstanding after he had too much to drink. The bachelor had been living in the hostel since October 2006 after moving from his council house in Girvan. He now lives in Ayr. 13. Thanks Gav I'll be speaking to the garage tomorrow. Good of you to remember this.. Cheers Rob Edit, just in from CW... Personally I'd tell them nothing, as, like telling the doctor what you have, it's bound to wind them up. If you don't trust them take it elsewhere. I once knew a guy who took his car to a garage, left it 2 hours, went on the `Net to ask his friends opinions, and rang them to TELL them his head gasket was gone. Seeing their arse they fitted a new head gasket and rang him to pay and collect. It still overheated. They then told him it needed a new thermostat. He learnt an expensive lesson... They probably still chuckle about closet experts. Once you start telling THEM what's up, and how to fix it, YOU carry the can if it still doesn't work, leave them to it and THEY carry the can __________________ Good point Chris, however, Dave, the mechanic has looked after my cars for 15 years, so I feel it's in safe hands. I can't resist asking a few questions on here, as there are some very knowledgeable members. Once again good to know people looking out for each other on this site. Thanks Rob.
  14. ...it's nice when people catch themselves out...
  15. Hi Konrad They arrived this morning and look really good as expected. Need to get my car back asap from the garage and then...fit them! Thanks Rob

    Erm...yes I'm pointing!?
  20. Plugs were put in 20,000 miles ago (60,000 mile plugs) No mods, it's a stock engine, turbos etc...
  21. Gentlemen your opinions please! I have a J-Spec 93' TT 6speed manual. She's now in a garage hopefully getting fixed, but I'd like your ideas on the probable causes of her recent illness 2 weeks ago: Idleing between 400-900 revs 2-3 days later: Loss of power when doing 40-70 mph (like driving in to a headwind, as one other member described in their situation) 2-3 days later: Trying to start...nearly...then...No! In the middle of this I could smell fuel. My mechanic tells me the engine managment light is showing no error codes...(is this normal, or even ok?) What do you think it sounds like? Thanks Rob
