  1. Buy a weight vest, makes training harder not so much use needed for the phone
  2. I believe double taxation treaties are quite similar and I had to deal with the Swiss one a few years back. As above, you can declare expenses and income in original country (Spain), however you still need to declare income and expenses (including tax paid in original country) in the UK.
  3. Yesterday the prop shaft went to a specialist and then immediately got put in the bin! Its out by quite a bit.... so a new one is being made up now, hopefully by the end of the week Will be ordering up some inline fuse kits to remove the fuse box altogether. Then we move onto the suspension and brakes. No idea how old the suspension is so will be having a good look. Same goes for the brakes, it has Hilux calipers on the front, but the feel is very wooden, drums on the rear may need some attention too. More to follow shortly.....
  4. So - update time..... The car made 183bhp at Surrey Rolling Road! Which I am very happy with.... Made it to Caffeine & Machine with no new issues, however the return trip highlighted an issue with the old fuse box (quite common) so will be switching to inline fuses. We also discovered a vibration on the prop shaft (most likely) but the car has never really been this fast before, so just working through the list of things to fix. Photos to come later on today
  5. Sadly, due to COVID, I have not been down to the car since the last video. However, since the roads are seeing less salt and HOPEFULLY we can move around soon, I will be getting the little thing mapped shortly........
  6. While we were building it, had so many chats with people just walking past along the same lines, first car, etc so many memories of the escort. One neighbor has already complained about the noise
  7. That was just part of its first drive, there will be a lot more! Just a shame that the weather has turned so not ideal, but will spend the winter sorting out the last few things (gauges, ECU fitting, remap and any other small issues)
  8. Well, she officially lives and sounds pretty damn good on throttlebodies! Ok, the engine cover needs painting and the front fenders need their badges (had MEXICO badges, but removed them - have a set of ST170 badges to go on). Couple more things to do, mount ECU, hide some wires, make some gauges work, REMAP and thats about it. [video=youtube_share;s6VXe9f-VEY]
  9. Been a little while, but we are progressing slowly First startup, not too bad after quite a few months being dry and no nuts on the engine mounts (couldn’t find them)
  10. Hmmmm, I can probably give you the list of parts ordered from Retro Ford My Pinto died, so no idea.... got decent money for the carb - although that was nearly new
  11. Yeah I did! Wish I hadnt! I would say go for it!! I loved (and I mean truly loved) the MX5 with a SC, should be like that out the factory. Drove superbly on the road, power delivery was brilliant, nothing to complain about. Hahaa, need to finish the MK1 Escort first.... ZETEC going in that, need to pay for ECU, throttlebodies, wiring loom and fueling.
  12. Hahaa... figured it would be a little more fun taking apart the ST170 For everything, and yes it will find its way to a track day or 2
  13. ZETEC engine and 5 speed type 9 gearbox are now in the car! Waiting for some more parts to finish off the fuel system, induction and electronics. Hopefully in the next few months.^
  14. Looking good! Used to have one of these and it was an awesome thing on track. However it was a little slow, no one would let it pass because they would just spank it on the next straight. This was all fixed with a supercharger M42 I believe off the mini! After that it was phenomenal on track! The things it overtook was brilliant! The other great thing was that it could keep going on track. My old GTR would do 5 sessions in a day and cost a chunk of fuel, this with the SC did 11 sessions (multiple drivers) and up to an hour of driving at a time. Some pics of mine..... Interior pic is console removal as I found that the thing got in the way on track Last pic is the car under new ownership, split with my ex a few years ago and had to sell it
  15. Update:- Well I broke it driving it back from Caffeine & Machine had some issues. Post failure, found low compression on cylinder 4, so took the decision that the pinto engine just wasnt up to the task. Queue the music Decide ZETEC 2l was a much better option, so a friend and I started doing some research and figured what could possibly go wrong. So I have bought a donor Ford Focus ST170, we have stripped both engines and gearboxes off the cars and ordered round 1 of 2 of parts for the conversion. Round 1 gets the and the new 5 speed gearbox into the car. Round 2 will get it running with the added benefit of throttlebodies.
  16. Update time..... she is road legal and is running The day started quite badly, wouldnt idle and lost all power to start. But after a fuse replacement and fixing a lose connection, the beast runs..... and she runs well! Still need to sort the fuel gauge (doesnt read anything) and the speedo (it only reads 20mph), oh yes and the brakes because pulling on the steering wheel is more effective than pressing on the brake pedal....
