  1. I have the majority of staff here who support Arsenal. I have one who supports Tottenham. One Arsenal fan and the Tottenham Trotspur fan have had an ongoing bet over the last FOUR years that Tottenham would finish above Arsenal within 5 years. The bet is for £100 so its not chickenfeed. The finish was a nailbiter this year. It is unfortunate that Tottenham players were ill before the game. It is also unfortunate that Rooney is injured. I would like the FA to ask FIFA to postpone the worlfd cup so our best player can get fit. If not and we lose a match can we ask for a replay when he is fit? As an example of Tottenham Trotspuritus , an infectious disease, I play Graeme the gentleman in question at Table Tennis here at work. He is 13 years younger than me. He can be Hammered (if you pardon the expression!) 8 games to 2 with a points difference of 4 after giving him a 6 point start. He refuses to accept he is BEATEN. It is always "it could have gone either way". After such a long time as a Trottenham Shitspur supporter hope springs eternal . He hopes things will turn round soon and some meaningful trophies are added to the dusty cabinet in his lifetime cos it has not so far.......and he's 41 this year. Question.....Do you think they remember where they have put the key to the trophy cabinet? Pump Gas Pete 769 RHHP on Pump Gas
  2. I worked for bosses for well over two decades. Then an opportunity arose for me to start a company . I had a utopian view of employment. Example "Hey guys the company will front some money for lunch" Reply "is that all ,that won't pay for it!" OK so have nothing. I have done weekends away for staff at company expense , including spouses and girlfriends. I have paid for staff holidays......abroad We have had Christmas Dinners at the "Landmark" with stretch Limos. (for those outside London the Landmark is serious 5 star) We have had trips to the theatre with a meal. we have had meals ...some serious I have "empowered" staff to give meaning and purpose to their job. I pay Christmas Bonus whether the company has the money or not. I occasionally throw in some "lifestyle" money when someone goes on holiday so they can have a moment they otherwise would not have had on holiday. (IE a restaurant or a trip) I ran a bonus scheme of enormous generosity which was "worked " in such a way that it cost the company a small fortune. The "troops" worked the production to just 40p an hour more than was needed to trigger the bonus. God ..they were good at it. I gave above average wage rises for years and years.Mainly because inflation has never been what this government says it is. Not this year cos once you have given it you cannot ungive it even if the turnover drops. I have just spent £5k on the restroom so people can get away from their work places. I have just refurbished the toilets and shower room. I am having fitted an enormously expensive set of extraction fans to keep the temperature down. are they Motivated? Nah!! As I am now (just like Animal Farm) fully transformed into a Boss I can assure you that NOTHING will motivate some people except fear. I never looked for a job after the age of 22. I would take a job that paid less money if it were more interesting. I would work all the hours necessary to complete my work and responsibilities as I saw them. If I didnt get money ....what "motivated" me? To be the best. To do the job to the very best of my ability.( the same rule is applying to the Supra!) To earn the money from this company I have and ,sometimes still do, work 14 days at a time.I work weekends ,nights bank holidays etc. My reward......45 days cruising a year......(55 next year) A Supra which when done will be one of the best in the country..... A "comfortable" lifestyle. Before you knock the bosses look at their risks. You never miss what you never had. I would miss not being able to spend money. If any thing happened to the company....another couple of West End bombs might do it....then I would lose "everything" My motivation now? Fear of losing what I have worked for. So now I make sure everybody gets paid, make sure everybody remains in employment, make sure that I/they have a future. and if to ensure that ..I have a "Gordon Ramsey" moment then I will continue to have them. As for the "theres the door" incident. NO-one but NO -one here would call my bluff on that one. I would work till I dropped rather than back down. If people don't want to work for me ......leave ...its a free world. What do I think they want?...a job ...regular....safe ....for the most money with the least aggro for the least effort. Bottom line.....the people who work for me are ALL entirely capable of owning their own companies, entirely capable of making the money for a Gallardo, and the reason they don't? self motivation.
