  1. really liking the photos of the hovis on the Supra, kill two birds with one stone
  2. i voted for - Likely to put off potential Full Members. then again some of the topic headings in the open-area are a bit off putting as well, mainly the language ones. doesn't worry me, but for a new person viewing to see topics like 'b*llocks' in open doesn't make for a good advert. also have to realise not everyone is an adult viewing the forum. as for hovis photos, i feel that if someone has been on forum for a while they may well start posting photos later on, but thats their choice, shouldn't feel pressured. but to hit people up straight away, really doesn't seem the best way of promoting the forum to a wider group. should be interesting going shopping today, thinking of 'hovis' and 'baps'. ja ne Ian
  3. yeah, it really gets to me getting sprayed with that stuff. and even now so much stuff is on the roads being chucked up. not sure, but don't some councils use different grit from others. i seem to remember hearing that some grit dissolves better than other types, after it's use is over. think they said that the crap stuff is cheaper.
  4. Hi, Pioneer are an excellent brand and have a great set of features. i went for a Kenwood setup though, as i couldn't justify spending that much. so i run the following: KNA-DV3200 sat nav KVC-1000 touch screen KTC-1000R KNA-320TMC separate alpine dvd/mp3 unit running through the above setup. bought the whole lot from a member on the forum and really happy with the whole setup. btw, i don't need ipod connectivity so it was no loss to me. didn't need the harddrive version either, as i can keep the DVD in the SatNav all the time anyway. only thing to check is insurance cover, i need to try to find better cover. atm, it is on my Sky policy but they only cover me to a value of 400UK. hope that helps as another option, ja ne Ian

    Downloading.

i use bulldog, its not perfect, but thats down to the VIA chipset and the speedtouch modem overloading the USB. can run 24/7 with no problems, and even though i don't get the max 8MB i have no worries about downloading. lets just say i don't know what a GB is only a TB i was with BT before changing, on 24/7 unlimited then they changed terms and conditions and only sent me a letter which i didn't get, they were going to charge me 330UK in excess usage, so i changed to Bulldog and they cancelled the amount. there loss my gain edited to add: BT were going to limit me to 15GB a month, which was no use, as i download so much from Japanese TV
  6. oh my, really sorry to hear this, my condolences.
  7. seen a few in the TV series i download from Japanese TV is addition to what has been mentioned above
  8. hmm, have to say i am in two minds regarding Clarkson. on the one hand, when they did the BBC2 series on 'Great Britons' he appeared in the Brunel episode, i thought he was just being a presenter, but the credits rolled and he wrote the episode as well, it was actually an excellent episode, probably the best. but he wasn't acting a plonker there. i haven't read anything by him so can't comment, but i expect he is a good read. As for Top Gear and his style, it is different that i will say. maybe he should have a chatshow on TV that would be worth watching. but on Top Gear, he is a complete idiot, why employ someone who cannot drive safely on the public highway. The show should be about cars and not the presenters, and the stunts they pull are just tiring now. we can all burn up the roads like he does, its not a case of him acting like 'mine is bigger than yours' just because he is driving the latest supercar. can't forget him on some A road, he is driving the latest merc (mclaren/mercedes?), anyway he over takes one car, then two, then three, then he does 4 cars (with caravan at front, no clear view, and then finds car coming towards him. if that was anyone else we would condemn him as a fool. as a person/personality, he is fine, i like him, but as a presenter of Top Gear i want to see cars both supercars and visit motor museums/collections the public don't see (aka Nick Mason), not them acting the way they do. as for him speaking his mind, would he do that if actually confronted by someone who would give it back/ hit him. i wonder. TV and print is a great safety blanket. edited: can't vote, 50% he is ok, 50% total idiot.
  9. ah, the domain of the rubber woman, need to pump some life into her those docs cracked me up when i watched them.
  10. nothing at all here near Hastings. even the rain has stopped now.
  11. they are good should be carved in stone
  12. cool can have 'his' and 'hers' versions. don't forget a line of suitably relevant jackets.
  13. black with silver writing would be first choice for me.
  14. hi guys, thanks for all the input, gonna read through this and see if some of this holds true. this SatNav had been installed in a Supra by the previous owner and had been working fine. so i guess it is the installation. thing i am really worried about, is the battery drain and if the SatNav is draining the battery when the car is not in use. Never had a duff battery in 14 months of ownership, but week after satnav, it dies on me. when you turn ignition off to the idle position, the satnav head unit pops out 3 or 4 times. cheers once again
  15. hi, it does same thing, when you are stopped, even with foot on the brake, the red indicator just carries on its merry way, even going through other roads. So you drive along and it locks onto another road.
  16. hi de hi, had SatNav fitted to the Supra the about a week ago, Kenwood flip out system. was parked on the seafront the other day, with the engine running, but handbrake on, so car was stationary. strange thing was, the small red arrow symbol denoting the car kept on moving and ended up about a mile away and there were no roads around, it was on the beach. anyone have any ideas what can be causing this. the other thing, after it had been fitted, i went to start the car and the battery was flat. for some reason the screen unit comes out and wonder if there is a live connection to the battery, even when ignition is off. cheers in advance, Ian
  17. oh wow. thats amazing the model of the Harry S Truman (CVN-75 Nimitz class) I am seriously impressed with that. i made an a/c (ark royal) when younger, but in those days there were not so many lego variations and it didn't look good. did like my Lego train set
  18. Happy Birthday, have a good'un
  19. Happy Birthday, have a great day
  20. i would love to know where these wonderful private roads are with roundabouts, never seen one yet in years of driving, lol
  21. things that scare me more on the road then speeding, coming up behind a Morris minor with those crappy old brakes, or one coming up behind you. and you just know they won't be able to stop. maybe someone with the knowledge can explain why A roads are still 60mph yet motorways, which should be safer if driven well, are only 70mph. anyone notice how many accidents on the M25 and most are driver error, not speeding. sooner they keep lorries to the inside lane and stop them overtaking especially uphill, the better to the rest of us.
  22. couldn't agree more, well said
