hmm, have to say i am in two minds regarding Clarkson.
on the one hand, when they did the BBC2 series on 'Great Britons' he appeared in the Brunel episode, i thought he was just being a presenter, but the credits rolled and he wrote the episode as well, it was actually an excellent episode, probably the best. but he wasn't acting a plonker there.
i haven't read anything by him so can't comment, but i expect he is a good read.
As for Top Gear and his style, it is different that i will say. maybe he should have a chatshow on TV that would be worth watching. but on Top Gear, he is a complete idiot, why employ someone who cannot drive safely on the public highway. The show should be about cars and not the presenters, and the stunts they pull are just tiring now.
we can all burn up the roads like he does, its not a case of him acting like 'mine is bigger than yours' just because he is driving the latest supercar.
can't forget him on some A road, he is driving the latest merc (mclaren/mercedes?), anyway he over takes one car, then two, then three, then he does 4 cars (with caravan at front, no clear view, and then finds car coming towards him. if that was anyone else we would condemn him as a fool.
as a person/personality, he is fine, i like him, but as a presenter of Top Gear i want to see cars both supercars and visit motor museums/collections the public don't see (aka Nick Mason), not them acting the way they do.
as for him speaking his mind, would he do that if actually confronted by someone who would give it back/ hit him. i wonder. TV and print is a great safety blanket.
edited: can't vote, 50% he is ok, 50% total idiot.
