Blitz Supra Revival
Background:
Blitz, of Japan, decided to have a go at the Ultimate racing challenge… the Nürburgring lap time.
Their challenge was to break the world record for the fastest time around the ‘Ring’ in a road legal production car, and this is where the story begins.
Nürburgring
The north loop is 20.8 km (12.9 mi) long and has more than 300 meters (1,000 feet) of elevation change from its lowest to highest points. Jackie Stewart nicknamed the old track "The Green Hell," and it is widely considered to be the most demanding and difficult purpose-built racing circuit in the world.
Their target was 7:53 and they managed 7:49 which is staggering even to this day let alone in 1997.
There is also evidence of Autocar’s feature of the Supra recording a 7:21 sec
7:21 --- 168.163 km/h -- Blitz Supra, 650 PS (Autocar magazine 1997)

(If anyone has the Autocar mag from 1997 i'd love to see it)
7:50 --- 157.787 km/h -- Blitz Supra, 750hp, Herbert Schürg (1997)As per Video Option mags.
Note, the track has been resurfaced and flattened several times since then – so it makes the 7:49 & 7:21 even more impressive.

My Story
2001 - I was a young chap working in a retail store and one Sunday; we closed for the day and were waiting for the Debrief. I went outside for some air and heard a sound of a mean car, this was the first time I saw the Blitz Supra in the flesh (I’d seen the Max power feature before: http://mkiv.supras.org.nz/articles/mpower1.htm ) and to my surprise one of my colleagues said that’s my uncles car, to which no one believed him.
So he called him and he turned back to show us the car, I jumped in and was lost for words!
Except when I said “I’m gonna buy this car one day!” (Jokingly)
She was stored in his garage and only driven a handful of times, if that, for around 8 years.
2009 – After many conversations I bought my Dream car – who’d know the joke I made came true.
That’s when I met Lee at SRD.
Frist thing I needed to know was if this actually was the car it was supposed to be and had the spec list from the magazines – Lee managed to verify that the engine was the highly modified Race spec that was used for the Ring.
2010 – The project to revive her, to her former glory, began but at the same time, my personal life was changing.
I was negotiating a house at the same time and my offer was accepted so had to sell my S14a Drift car and Type R to pay the deposit and buy the house.
Few months later my daughter was born – priorities were changing and finances tight.
Major house renovation, double glazing, boiler to name but a few – all boring, but important, stuff were taking priority.
2014 – Nov/Dec; Work started again…
