  1. It maybe over 15yrs but you cant use classic car insurance as its now heavily modded. I wouldnt worry about payout value i would worry about just getting proper insurance with mods covered for the time being. I would also consider shopping before fitting the single.
  2. The problem with insurance I found was if the company's didnt know what they were talking about they wouldnt allow it and if they did understand they wouldnt allow it. My first insurance was with elephant. I was lucky enough to ring and speak to someone on their first day. I explained that my twin turbo's had gone pop and I couldnt afford to buy another 2. So I was buying 1 large one instead of 2 little ones, he wasnt very helpful so I got upset and asked for the supervisor. The supervisor explained it was this guys first day and apologised and made a note on my file giving me permission to do this. I was VERY lucky that day. Then came the £2500 from a plan. I had spent all the money on manual conversion, engine build etc etc and it became obvious that my "chat" with elephant would not suffice in the event of an accident. If i were you i would try A plan thacham and Adrian Flux. If they cant help you, your in trouble. Ref. the box or the RLTC. I dont think its expensive to remove and replace a box. Difficult decision.
  3. I cant stress enough how much i would advise RLTC....seriously, 500bhp means a major lack of tracktion. Think hard, its only £600. With your insurance i would start looking very hard. Dont you remember how much trouble Havard had and he is an old f***er I had to pay £1250 for my first 6 months of single ownership (2.5K per year) just to get some experience. Now paying £1051 per year. Didnt we work out it takes about 2 seconds off a 1/4 being an auto? - Dam you again BTW brian
  4. Ryan, Sorry to ask in here but what is the difference between a T61 .68ar and a T67 .68ar? Not refering to DBB. jon
  5. Welcome back Ian. Like the thread title, did a double take
  6. Who has mapped it? I can highly recommend Ryan if you do need it mapped. He has worked wonders with mine. No, at that price it would only ever go abroad. The wife is very insistant on me keeping it and with so many people saying i will regret it i have a lot of thinking to do. Have you driven a single yet? Please be carful, its very easy to come unstuck. If you havent got RLTC i would REALLY recommend it as im sure it has saved my life/car on many occasions. I may have missed it, but who are you insuring the car with and what sort of money are they asking? (interested as i went single @ 21 i think and it wasnt easy) - pm if you like.
  7. Its just something to consider for the future. What ECU are you going to be running for the single?
  8. What your saying is true but I personally belive that a manual is a LOT more fun. Thats whats more important. If you need to go faster than an auto, run more boost (perfect example was suprapod)
  9. Auto is not as much fun as a manual. One step at a time though, just get saving for a manual conversion. You will not regret it. If you cant afford to rebuild the engine, i would not going above 1.4bar. The GT4088 is a big turbo, pm jamie if you are in a position to change the turbo. He has tried loads of different ones. Welcome to the single club BTW. I hope you enjoy it as much as most of us have and do. Hows your insurance at 22? And who is it with?
  10. I did see once that they did make a 1.8 in japan. I would be interested to know if it were true.
  11. I like that...... i maybe selling but can i buy one anyway.
  12. Wonder what it would drive like. P.S You certainly took the wind out of my sails
  13. Not sure TBH. I have the RS4 so cant think of anything to fit the bill. As said earlier, may try my hand at drifting and get a drift car. Thank you..... see supraloopy, he made it for me.
  14. I would personally suggest changing the manifold, the turbo and the auto box for a manual when you can. What boost will you be running?
  15. Its not so much the money that is putting me off as i have that set aside ready to go. Its the actually spending it on something im not going to use, Im thinking that i may do a couple of drift days to see if i enjoy it. If i do i may set it up for drift. We shall see, the mrs is REALLY not keen on me selling and she wears the trowsers I just don't seem to care about the car in the same way I used to, hopefully its just a fase.
  16. I already told them you bought my car....sorry
  17. Never 700BHP. No spec list no engine bay pic, no print out......no chance!
  18. Those are one of the nicest aftermarket wheels i have seen.
  19. My mind isn't 100% made up. I still have some thinking to do. If it doesn't sell then it's going off the road for a while whilst I try something else. Not sure what though. Will be sad I'm sure but I have lost the enthusiasm.
  20. Well......what can I say? I have decided to put her up for sale. She only got used properly 6 times last year. (apart from outings for new mods and mapping) I believe the car can be used by someone who will appreciate her for what she is and get the buzz I used to get just from starting her up, let alone racing her. The car is a UK spec Manual 6 speed, Dyno'd at 575bhp @ 1.35 bar, I have recently raised the boost to 1.6 bar but it will not hold more than 1.35 (I have a new waste gate spring in my kitchen to fix that) The car has a fresh full respray (all glass out and panel's off) + custom computer cut stone chip shield on the front and lower rear quarters (worth £500) As you can see by the pictures the car has never been driven hard or used for what it’s been designed for The car has run an 11.8 quarter mile @ 126.88 at Santapod and a 172.76 in 26.89 from a standing start to 1 mile. (faster than a gallardo) I would like to think that is one of the top cars in the club. I am not aware of any other cars pushing this sort of power out of a T61 @ 1.35bar. The only bad point:- I personally feel the suspension needs doing. I’m sick of stock suspension. More info to come, but I will have to go and look at the car to get mileage (approx 110-120 I think) and to answer any other questions.
