View Full Version : V6sheps supra makeover begins...

02-03-13, 22:29
Well after 2 weeks off the road, decided it was time to start a strip down... Was not impressed with what I found:

Around August when I bought the car: veilside supra:

Many will be happy to know, veilside is now gone, but upon stripping the car, found, after around 30 minutes removing 1 skirt, there weren't just 4 screws holding the skirts on:
That would be body filler and some sort of tough a$$ silicone at the front of the skirt

Another 2 tubes of silicone later:

Spoiler off:
Boot now stays up

Bumper off:

Updates over the months to come...

First change is a TRIAL front bumper which is already fitted.
Skirts to go with this bumper are doing my head in as I can't find any I think go. I don't want a whole TRIAL supra, I want to make it my own.
Also having a custom exhaust made and the HKS SILENT is coming off.
As for rear end, that's still a debate. Spoiler is sorted though.
Rims a possibility, some ultralite 5 spoke staggered I was offered.
The colour of the car is open to suggestions (NOT RED,BLACK OR SILVER, it's too common)

You have made a good start, I stripped mine down when I got it, my god I wish I didn't! It's all the better for it now though.

03-03-13, 08:34
Cheers gaz, all that friggin sealant though! Took half hour just to remove one skirt lol

03-03-13, 15:20
Good to see you cracking on with it, sealants a bugger to get off.

If you ever need a hand on a weekend just give us a shout.

Probably wont be much help to you but can always make tea n coffee lol.

Thats not bad fella, I've seen supras in a lot worse condition !

03-03-13, 20:32
That's reassuring to know lol
Good thing, not a tiny spot of rust anywhere. Which I thought might have been hiding as I guessed previous owners didn't really look after it, when I got it you should have seen the state of the belts! They looked like old worn leather!

03-03-13, 21:15
Hi mate. Glad you got the VS off. Now bern it with fire and put the pics up on hear. :bang: LOL

03-03-13, 21:24
Haha thanks CLAY. I was actually going to use the spoiler as a picnic table....

19-03-13, 00:11
I have a TRIAL front bumper... Any ideas as to what skirts might blend nicely with that?
Any ideas on colour would be great, bear in mind it's an every day car so nothing too fancy as it'll take a bit of weathering.

29-03-14, 18:11
Finally got back to the supra again.
Got all my bits: side skirts I bought from a mate: no idea of make (pics of them on his car a while back)http://www.mkivsupras.co.uk/imports/2014/03/1.jpeg (http://s1124.photobucket.com/user/V6shep/media/IMG_147408866449321_zpsuxt4wps3.jpeg.html)http://www.mkivsupras.co.uk/imports/2014/03/2.jpeg (http://s1124.photobucket.com/user/V6shep/media/IMG_147497067499126_zpsq9fv4lkn.jpeg.html)http://www.mkivsupras.co.uk/imports/2014/03/3.jpeg (http://s1124.photobucket.com/user/V6shep/media/IMG_147562504663434_zpsiohdwmok.jpeg.html)

My front bumper I believe to be Trail (correct me if I'm wrong):http://www.mkivsupras.co.uk/imports/2014/03/4.jpeg (http://s1124.photobucket.com/user/V6shep/media/IMG_147973632104841_zpsfwgm6ekp.jpeg.html)http://www.mkivsupras.co.uk/imports/2014/03/764.jpg (http://s1124.photobucket.com/user/V6shep/media/13490911214_63b25dc682_o_zpsgaj500nn.jpg.html)

Now I know I got rid of the whole VS stuff..... But.... I was offered this rear bumper from a member, and I really liked it, so bought it:http://www.mkivsupras.co.uk/imports/2014/03/765.jpg (http://s1124.photobucket.com/user/V6shep/media/IMG_20131026_211010_zps04kpnhx8.jpg.html)

My new 18" staggered wheels:http://www.mkivsupras.co.uk/imports/2014/03/766.jpg (http://s1124.photobucket.com/user/V6shep/media/13490608123_76b82fe374_o_zpsvjnwqdwm.jpg.html)

And my dash in Ford currant red (has a burple tint):http://www.mkivsupras.co.uk/imports/2014/03/767.jpg (http://s1124.photobucket.com/user/V6shep/media/13490540105_c8f35e1593_o_zps5mzta3q4.jpg.html)

As for spoiler, eventually going TRD maybe, but for now, using my standard spoiler that clemmo kindly donated :)
Any feedback welcome
Cheers guys

Tyre sizes are 225/35 18 and 265/30 18

30-03-14, 17:56
Well.... That's that answered :-) cheers Ian

30-03-14, 19:03
Although I can't seem to find any 265 30 18

30-03-14, 19:25
235/40/18 & 265/35/18 fairly common size for supra mine don't rub on the arches either

30-03-14, 19:59
Ahh cheers Paul :-)

30-03-14, 20:07

Ahhh yes there the sizes I was a little out :innocent:

31-03-14, 00:22
Haha yeah I wondered why I couldn't find the sizes

31-03-14, 00:29
Next time your at the car mate give us a shout and I'll pop up is it n/a or tt?

It's n/a mate, the reason I bought the n/a was because I'd only had my licence 5 year with 4 no claims, so naturally assumed insurance would bend me over and dry fist me. Then everyone on here tells me there wouldn't be much difference :(
But main reason was.... It was only 1600
I just wanted to strip it and make it my own.
Then once I have some pennies put aside, I could always go n/a-t I guess?!
Once I get it back it'll need mot, I DO know it needs a caliper.... Luckily I was kindly given a full set, with grooved discs and yellow stuff pads.... For free from Matt Wilson who sold me the C west skirts.
I can't find a decent priced set for caliper repair kit so spoke to a company in Notts who offered me one caliper overhaul for 27

31-03-14, 00:32
Once mot is done, I'm shaving doors so need to find someone to respray my shell for me.
The guy who has my car wants 3500 to spray the whole car the same colour it is, to change the colour.... He wants 4000.....
So I told him to just spray the body kit and fit it and leave it at that

31-03-14, 06:47
I know decent sprayer mate who would give you much better deal that that

31-03-14, 08:10
Cheers Paul. I'll definitely keep that in mind as I don't know anyone to do it

19-07-14, 20:59
Well.... Not the finish I expected after months of constantly being messed around but it's half way there.... Going to go elsewhere and have shell done, then put new rims on....
Not everyone's cup of tea but I'm more than happy with the 3 choices of kit that's on it.
Also to smooth in rear bumper and skirts, and have door handles removed http://www.mkivsupras.co.uk/imports/2014/07/624.jpg (http://s1124.photobucket.com/user/V6shep/media/Mobile%20Uploads/DSC_0871_zpstfza1r7r.jpg.html)http://www.mkivsupras.co.uk/imports/2014/07/625.jpg (http://s1124.photobucket.com/user/V6shep/media/Mobile%20Uploads/DSC_0870_zps7attksuj.jpg.html)

19-07-14, 21:20
Put the veilside back on :run:

only kidding, as long as you like it that's all that matters, did Jazz take the photo's ?

19-07-14, 21:41
Haha thanks..... That rear is actually a veilside, one of not many made. I think I read around 100 or 150 made.
I'm almost happy as I say few more bits to do, plus my deep dish rims
I took pics quickly on my phone, camera playing up and misting up :(

22-07-14, 23:07
Nice car, but why you did paint the interior?

Dat ass....

23-07-14, 07:21
Because I prefer to wrapping, th's last owner destroyed it. Could really do to buy new interior
