How to use Thumbnails on this forum

Example:

attachment.php?attachmentid=103989&stc=1&thumb=1&d=1263939356

This will only be of interest to a few on here, but thought it worth mentioning that you can use thumbnails with images hosted on this forum (useful for project threads in particular, where you might not want full images displayed in the post)

1) Upload the images in your post

2) Click 'preview post'

2) Right click the chosen thumbnail at the bottom of the previewed reply and copy the full URL to notepad (lets call it pic1)

3) Click the image and copy the URL to notepad (lets call it pic2)

4) Enter the following code, copy the image links above into the place of 'pic1' and 'pic2', the image will appear as a thumbnail where you want it in the post

pic1

Or, you can use the tags like this. Then the image wont appear at the bottom of the post and the hyper link to the full picture is done automatically. ;)

The {attachid} can be found from the URL on the "Current Attachments" section of the "Manage Attachments" screen when you upload attachments, e.g.

http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=103994&stc=1&d=1263974744

Yep ... I know that.

However, some people upload pics that are full size without having to click on it. My question was how to do this?

P.S. I know that I am not a big IT specialist :D

They put the full picture URL in an tag instead. I would prefer people didn't do that too often though. Thumbnails are much better as you get the idea of what the image is about and only need to use up our bandwidth downloading the full size copy of the ones you actually want. :)

Can you make this a sticky please? I am guilty of taking up your bandwidth, quite often!

Hosting somewhere else might help with that, like imagshack.us

Chris uses his own FTP server quite a bit so actually I think he's wrong and doesn't use the forum's bandwidth that much.
