supradibbs Posted September 16, 2007 Share Posted September 16, 2007 I agree with Supradibbs and not just because I am trimmer. You get what you pay for. And its all in the fitting. With our stuff everything is always custom made to fit each individual seat. To give you an idea,when a cover is made it will take Vinny a minimum of 6 hours to fit EACH seat! 6 HOURS to make sure its tight and clean and will last. Good luck though but I do not understand people who will gladly splash out money on one thing then scrimp on another. totally people just dont understand what goes into the fitting we as am sure you guys have a very expensive piece ok kit that steams the leather for a nice tight fit Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The Recaro's which where limited edition in the facelift cars which came also in rocking horse poo rare leather as well. Then theres the UK spec seats which are electric both sides and are they heated as well? The rear seats in the UK specs are proper leather as well. The rear seats in a UK aren't leather, they are vinyl/leather look. Also the front seats that claim to be all leather are a mixture of leather and vinyl. I think the bolsters are vinyl for flexibility, yes they look all leather but when I had mine re-trimmed I was shown the originals and it suprised me. Martin Posted October 18, 2007 Share Posted October 18, 2007 I'm not a trimmer but close, a upholsterer. Still in the process of recovering my seat's in black leather. I've done the front's which took me a solid week to do and back seat section which took a day. Check out the pic's in my garage. The rear seat is a total bugger (loads of hog ringing to be done). I agree if your going to do it, give it to someone who's got the tool's and the know how and while there put some decent leather on them. I wouldn't even try it if I never do it before.. Im not in business to steal work from other companies, rather to co-exist if you will, specialising in other cars..hence the reason I have never looked at Supras...why bother when the Gibson guys have it wrapped up... I was merely putting my point across about the benefits of LEATHER against PLASTIC seats The reason I posted a picture of someof the seats we make is to show how much better they can look than cheap vinyl Of course I will say leather is better...I am in the leather business. But one thing remains true and no-one can argue. Bespoke leather work IS better than mass produced PLASTIC work produced in the far east probably by children being paid either a pittance or nothing at all. If you want to support slave labour...go ahead. Also...if you know what your looking at Plastic seats would never fool anyone into believing its leather! Its just laughable! If you want your Supra to be finished to a very high standard, using the best in automotive materials and more importantly MADE IN BRITAIN, contact one of the companys who specialise in this field. Some of the work I have seen from the companys already trading on here looks fantastic and is a testament to what could be a dying trade if more people continue to import cheap tat! and please dont delete this thread and give me any more infractions...my views are valid and honest and to the above - - - -an expected reply from someone who resells seats retrims? I dont resell, I manufacture as Gibson do, each customer is looked after on an individual basis to get the car looking EXACTLY how they want it. And yes for me to say that cheap nasty seat covers are a bit naff and tacky IS something someone who works in the business would say....as all those people know what they are talking about! The pink and white retrim on your site suggests you have no concept of "naff and tacky" If people want faux leather let them have it, it's nicer than manky old cloth in most situations and it helps them personalise on a budget and gain satisfaction from doing the work themselves, even if it's not up the standards of a pro retrim using the finest cow bits. Perhaps some people want to take the vegetarian option and still get the same effect, either way it's not your place to judge them.
