This isn't a case of internet Chinese whispers where removing the TRAC fuse in the engine bay apparently defeats the UK speed limiter and gives more aggressive shifts is it?

 

TRAC > Track

Aggressive shifts > "Race Mode"

Diagnostics Port > Fuse Box

 

Maybe?

I don't think anyone has managed to destroy their box within minutes of removing the fuse but it's widely accepted that the "aggressive" shifts could make the life of the box shorter than it would be normally - I don't think we know if this is 10 miles or 10,000 miles shorter though :)

Think Michael may be spot on with this one

 

Sounds like it. Had a quick read of some old threads earlier and noticed RedM mentioned the aggresive gear changes on the autobox and potential damage in a thread concerning the removal of the TRAC butterfly. Which all seems to tie in with the removal of the TRAC fuse.

 

Side question then if I can. If I went with RLTC and of course wanted rid of the stock UK traction control, the only way I can see to cut the stock traction control out of the loop is to switch it off by the switch each time I get in. Being an auto I can't remove anything mechanical from the system without upsetting things. Is this right?

You can ditch the Trac control system - i.e. pump etc etc on the UK spec without any problems Burna.

UK spec uses the same TRAC throttle but also have a a large TRAC pump which interfaces with the ABS system. Removing the TRAC control isnt as staiight forward as on a jspec.

Theres a guide on mkiv.com, but you have to remember your RHD so somethings are a little different, i.e. routing new brake line.

If you go with rltc you can leave the stock trac switched on as the racelogic cuts in way before the stock one does, or you can come to rotorstock and bug me to build the switchoff box that i've had designed on paper for over 6 months now.
