Aerotop Dave
Yes it is - you said you had £700-800 ish! I've got a HKS Priest full stainless and yet this exhaust never gets a mention in Supra exhaust threads.

Gough
Thanks for the replies Bobbeh, White & Dave As I said its between the HKS Ti race series and the Veilside Ti teardrop. Just had a look on supraforums, and they all bang on about how great the HKS is (but its v. loud apparently which I don't mind so long as it doesn't drone too much at motorway speeds), on the other hand its seems as though the Veilside's a touch more descreet. Does anyone have 1st hand experience of these exhausts?
Rich
yeah but if the HKS is too loud you have the option of a silencer, trust me mate they sound awesome!
Gaz Walker
The Veilside is IMHO the greatest exhaust on a STOCK TWINS car, possibly on a single too. I think I'd prefer the extra size of the HKS on a big single though, but they will be little in it. The HKS weights 4 times as much though. The Veilside makes all the right noises and isn't loud at all when cruising. Nail it though an about 130db of raw exhaust comes on song. I've owned a Nur, Greddy Ti, Veilside Ti and Apexi Ti before. Sold/experienced just about everything else. I've driven an HKS twinned car with a HKS Racing Ti on, was probably the loudest thing in the world Gaz. It came already fitted on the car! It just never gets a mention (take Mr Walker's reply above for example) so even though I'd never change it I've no idea if it's any good or not! I love it - burbles nicely at idle (someone even commented on that today), throaty roar, but very understated on the motorway. No one seems to have even heard of this particular HKS model though, hehe
Scooter
er, do you still have the cats in? its just that all the talk of excessively loud exhaust notes are i'd think relating to decatted cars. I don't think you'll have too much noise or drone with the cats in, but its all good advice if you are decatting or planning on it.......
Gough
Gaz thanks very much for the advice Scooter, it'll have one cat out but I'm not taking the other out just yet. So in the medium term; one cat in and one out.
Bobbeh
Mine can resonate at around 95-100mph, and thats with cats in. But thats the only speed at where it drones, or around 3900 revs on mine.
jason m
I have the veilside on a tt jap spec, fits well, v. v. light, very straight piping, sounds lovely but it is loud on cold start idle. normal idle is fine, WOT is loud but so it should be. Originally fitted with first cat still in, when I removed the second cat the sound became a little more raw (less muffeled) as you would expect but definately not louder than a sigle cat. I have a CW first cat pipe ss, and a mild steel hks 2nd cat pipe, this can resonate under certain throttle loads when cruising. Hope this helps. BTW I would def get one again - if you do go for one be sure to see it and feel the weight before you get it fitted, it is truely awsome.

Guest Terry S
IMHO I would go for the Ti, as I believe it comes with the 4" V band adaptor, which makes it future proof as far as a big single turbo kit goes. Great Idea.

Guest Terry S
LOL Paul, I'd have thought an exhaust supplier would have known that mate Mark is right, sorry Joe, the HKS.
Nic
Not sure if it is available in the UK but I have an ARC full (including 2 x cat replacement pipes) titanium exhaust fitted, it is very good quality, straight design, extremely light and produces a good exhaust sound that is not TOO loud. TLicense
I thought about upgrading to a ti exhaust and so asked a few people around work if they thought the extra cash was worth it. The reply was catagorically NO. Basically the thinking was that because ti is so brittle, the wall thickness on a system would have to be quite large to compensate, and even then you would still struggle with it when it got hot. That's why exhaust in F1 are made from inconel and not ti. I'm sticking with me st.st. Hope that helps. Tony p.s. does that qualify as technical...?
