Rather nervous...

I've been with my current company for the past 3 years and well it was the company I've always wanted to work for, my dad worked for them for 25 years and always spoke highly of them. Sadly my impression of the same company hasn't been as a good. They haven't done me too badly, but they certainly weren't the company I was expecting. Been promised promotion and all sorts, I'm currently working on projects as the lead TDA (Technical design architect), however everytime I've asked for promotion up to the correct level that a TDA should be I get told 'Well give it 6 months and then we will see'... In a nutshell, not been overly happy but not unhappy enough to really think about moving since I enjoy the work I've been doing (Typical british I suppose)

HOWEVER, yesterday I got a phonecall from a company who was rather interested in a particular skill set I have in the IT world and offered me a senior role and effectively giving me a hell of a promotion and rather sizeable increase on my current salary (in the order for 3x)....

It isn't the first time I've been headhunted, but for some reason I'm really nervous/excited/worried about the interview today.

And to top it all off I've been cold turkey on the fags and the pot for the past week, so I'm really buzzing.

Sleep would just be a nice option now *grin* :p

Good luck with it mate:)

Cheers chap... put it this way, I'm going to be speaking to our friends in MK if it all goes well to have a little fun with my VVTi.... ;)

Good luck to you bud.

It must be a nice feeling to get headhunted for all the work you've done.

Your present company's loss I'd say.:)

Sadly, I reckon they won't feel the same, they have been loosing people for a while, which is half the reason I stayed around, my logic was that eventually with people going that I would end up getting my promotion... golden carrot....:search:

You want to hope they don't read this then as I sure as hell wouldn't employ a dope head to manage anything in my company.

Okay, then, randomly test the people working for you then...

Test for pissheads, cokeheads, potheads and plenty of off the shelf chemicals, then make comments like that.

As I employ me then I know I'm clean!! And I'm quite at liberty to make comments like that at any time bud thank you very much!

I'm virtually tea-total and have never, and would never, drink in the day if I was going back to work. Ever!

In that case I will apologise... I'm the same with regards ANYTHING during work hours, in fact when I did have a smoke it was ONLY EVER on a evening. It is an odd thing that I've not known before... I still don't fully understand how people can have a drink at work at lunch time... but it does seem to be an acceptable thing here in the UK.

Also please note I said, I'm no longer touching it as well.... (and in fact stopped before even being offered the job)

Good luck Gav!!

Sounds like you need a change of job but make sure the new prospective company are what you are looking for and this is not a "frying pan and fire" exercise!!

This also gives you a chance to find out how much your current company wants you. If you hand in your notice and they let you go, then they were never going to give that promotion!!:(

Although you are nervous, this is a good oportunity move forward on way or another!!

H.
