Veyron beating British supercar announced

How much would it cost to build a decent 1000 - 1200 BHP supra??

What sort of topend would be possible?

Its not like your 1000-1200 BHP supra is gona be a reliable car tho. The veryron is such a price because it can be thrashed, thrashed again and then then next morning it will turn over again:

In the famous words of some guy:

"Theres no substitute for cubic capacity"

although to help achieve high power from large CC's, a turbo helps

P.s there was the top secret Supra that ran something like 250 on the salt flats in Utah i think

The yellow one with a T88 turbo? but at the end of the day the Bugatti, Koenigg (spelling?) and so on, arent that reliable either. The difference is that you will have a mechnic flown to you as quickly as humanly possible to fix the problem...

So build the supra, and then buy a ferrari with the change for when the supra breaks!! :D

Don't you mean "There's no replacement for displacement!"? :p

I remember reading about the Heffner Viper at some point, was an interesting read about how you can usually get a certain bhp per CC in an engine, with atmospheric pressure (the 8 litre Viper makes 500BHP), so add some turbos that can efficiently blow 1bar and you get 1000BHP, make 1.5bar and you have 1250BHP etc. etc.

So the lump in the Supe is a bit short for high power, it can do it because the block is so strong but it won't be reliable at high figures.

I wonder how strong the Veyron engine is! It runs 1 bar normally (8 litre again), whack it up to 28psi and see what happens!!!

It's hardly a Veyron beater...

It's geared to 270 but they are obviously dubious about it stayingon the road above 225mph hence it's limited....then there is the handling you think it can be as good as the Veyron? no chance.... etc etc...

If I stuck a 1,000hp motor on a skateboard would that be a match for a Veyron?...

I believe the limit will have something to do with the tyres...

Who knows, but it must be bloody strong to take 1000bhp anyway. Jesus would you want to tweak the Veyrons turbos? such a master piece of engineering wouldnt take kindly to your average guy even thinking of putting a wrench to it!
