Supragal
I have a feeling Fifty and Jake shouldn't answer this Been looking and applying for 3 weeks now... come on what's wrong with me?? Seriously though, not been in this situation before so how long does it take for people to get back to you? Presumably they have a window of X weeks to accept applications before they even look at your CV??

michael
No idea what the norm is, it took me an hour to get this one - I still haven't had an interview.
RedM
I don't what is worse. Being out of work and applying for jobs or being in a job which you hate with every fibre of your being and applying for jobs. I hate it when people don't get back to you as to your success, or lack there of, when applying for jobs. It makes me want to go and burn their offices down. Supragal
For me to get into my current job took 9 months from applying to actually starting Christ on a bike!!! I'll be bankrupt before then! I've started applying for contract roles just in case. Not really what I want and the moneys not great but it's better than none I guess

I thought it was the second but now it's the first!!! Knowing you have no money coming in is not good... I suppose if they had millions of applications i can understand it but at least a group email to say no would be nice. at least I can mark them off on my spreadsheet!! Pete
No idea what the norm is, it took me an hour to get this one - I still haven't had an interview. Yeah, but they don't ask for many qualifications when you're a Fluffer do they? The right job can take a while. New Year is your best time - seems everyone likes swapping jobs then. Charlotte
I'm not sure really, I think you just have to keep chasing in respect of recruiters. It annoys me when they advertise a job and it sounds like the perfect one and it turns out it's just to get you on their books and there is no job at all. Is your other half still at your old company?
DamanC
A good marker would be anywhere between 2 and 6 weeks. It all depends how specialised and rare your role is.
Supragal
Charlotte- yes he is for a while anyway they will all be going soon
Mike
When I got made redundant a few years back I kept a notepad of every recruiter who contacted me, the roles they had, time and dates they called.. and then periodically chased them every few days... I think it took me about a month to get another job so 4-6 weeks I would say is what you could expect.. but like Daman said, it depends on how specialist the role it.. Just don't get down hearted and keep plugging away...
_Rob_
Yeah, but they don't ask for many qualifications when you're a Fluffer do they? Fluffer, LOl.. ive got to start looking for noew jobs next year, however mine are for a graduate position. there'll be 100's of applicants for each company, going to be very competitive and take around 12 months from application to final interview! hope yours isnt that long Rosie! ivan
Took me 3 months to find a job when I was made redundant 7 years ago. Even then the job came by my own research and not from any of the many agencies I applied with. Keep your chin up Rosie. You'll get there in the end. (anyone want my job in Verwood?) Guest Sexy Supra
Agencies in my experience are useless. I am well qualified but ended up finding a job off my own bat. Some companies, unfortunately, don't even bother replying to you. I would say after 6 weeks assume you don't have an interview. I was in the NHS for 9 years but gave up the rat race and am now freelance, which is much better and less stress.
Supragal
Yes, I wish. I notice there was talk of a new legislation or something to stop them charging a ridiculous amount of money for it, which I remember the figures being. I was contracting anyway so they don't play ball with us.

Kip
I was made redundant on the 19th June and have applied for close to 40 jobs - (my previous employment has been very sector specific, and that sector is in free fall at the mo. so finding the right job has been difficult) - some of which have been good enough to reply and others not, have been to several interviews and am on a second interview tomorrow for a job which looks favourable, fingers crossed. Have had to kick start my loan protection plan just recently, however the down side to that is I have had to register with the job centre, what a bunch of jobs-worth tossers, I've employed pot washers that have bigger IQ's, the inane questioning one has to go through - steps down! Good luck though, register with a few GOOD agencies and you should be ok
