My MD isn't sooo bad after all.

My boss has been away all week (came back from holiday to 14 yes 14 new cases) so I've been covering his work and my work together which has been a right pain, as well as answering all the phone calls and 10 more cases this week. It may not sound a lot but we're only a small office.

Been working late etc to try and get everything done.

Haven't been moaning but I suppose I haven't been my usual cheery self.

The office manager asked if I was ok and I just said generally I was fine, if not a little overworked.

One of the partners has just come into my office and said 'Oh we noticed what a great job you've done this week and we want to increase your pay to xyz'.

Well chuffed, just thought I'd share. :)

That's great, Charlotte. Can I have a job there? All I got after four months in my new position is a three month probation meeting (not that I knew I was on probation having been there for four years), a total lack of training and the news that I can have another three month probationary period (hey! at least I know I'm on it this time).

It was great going into the meeting knowing that everyone had just had a pay-rise.

But to be fair, I haven't had a rise since I've been there (a year). There are no benefits ie the company is so small there are no pension schemes or private health care, no quarterly bonuses etc. I never ask for more money because I just don't like asking. I'm a sucker really.

I've had payrises every year but only at the level of inflation (just). Actually equates to no extra spending money, just the ability to pay ever increasing bills.

Yeah, that's what most people get. But I've not had anything. :( But the lump sum was worth it so it's all good.
