Supra vs Wild Boar

The strangest thing happened to me yesterday whilst driving the 2 miles to my nearest town. Just driving along at around 30mph, looked down for a second to skip the track on my stereo, as I look up I see a big brown thing come hurtling across the road at me. Instinctively I swirved slightly to try to avoid it, then bang it hit the rear quarter of my car.

This all happened in a split second, first thought was 'what the f*ck was ....!!!', looked in my rear view mirror just as this thing bounced off the side of my car and saw a HUGE wild boar go running off into the bushes by the side of the road.

It was a bit of a surreal moment, I've never even seen a wild boar before in the 10 years I've lived in HK. I hadn't run it over so pressumed it was okay (and I didn't much fancy stopping to find out TBH), it had basically just panicked ran across the road and barreled straight into the side of me and then ran off.

It hadn't done any damage just left a huge mud splatter and a few scratches from the drivers door down the rear quarter and over the rear wheel.

OMG that's scary! Is that another one lying down?

Not quite wild boar but if you go through The Devil's Punchbowl in Hindhead it's not unusual to be chased by a bull or two. Last time we went walking there Mike kept saying he could see a badger in the bushes and that they aren't friendly if you make too much noise, I was petrified and haven't been back since. :)

Wild boar are evil fuc*ers, an they can grow huge if they breed with domestic pigs (anyone see hogzilla on discovery). If domestic pigs escape into the wild, they soon change too an get corse hair, an grow big tusks !. Pigs are bad tempered bastids, I wouldn't have stopped either. Glad your cars ok mate.

Any excuse to get that respray, eh Nic? ;)

I've come across quite a few of these buggars when out hiking in the New Territories, not the friendliest of beasties. Especially when running (albeit rather slowly...) over the hills, rounding a corner and straight into a family of them on the path... brakes full on!!! Lots of snorting and grunting later and they're off through the bushes.... I must get that cold sorted out. :moo:

We get quite a few of them in Oxfordshire.

I quite often hear the neighbours complain.

"oh the bloody wild boar have been at it again!"

"what do you mean?"

"oh the usual, writing cars, caravans and dumper trucks off"

"oh that, I thought you'd meant commiting harry carry and jumping onto the BBQ"

"No not that, although I'm throwing some wild boar on the barbie for tea tonight, do you fancy popping round for some?"

"NO thanks"

I was going to rant on about how neigbour no.2 then went on to hold neighbour no.1 at knife point whilst he robbed them and raped his daughters, but that would be east Oxfordshire, whilst I live in West Oxfordshire. The posh end. It's quite a different neighbourhood, don't you know.

Toodle pip.
