From the 200+ Mailing List:

"Details at Last!

sorry about the delay, got the travel info from the IOM tourist board stand at Autosports.

Finally got the details for the June event, package is via Magic

Holidays (IOM steam packet company) and it should be listed with them as 19th/20th June Drag Car weekend. Magic Holidays are 01624 645777.

no one has booked as yet, as details are only out today, its upto

individuals/clubs now to sort their own bookings direct . Hopefully

everyone will get booking and fill it up, all the clubs and groups

are invited, and all who took part in TOTB2 have expressed interest in going. please pass details onto people and groups as you see fit, all welcome.

I'm ringing tomorrow morning to sort details on the hotel for 200+

club members, then will send details out to our lot on email.

packages are around £160 for 4 days incl ferry and hotel(b+b) i am told. you can come/go as you please once there, its upto you, but we will hopefully be going on basis of:

set off friday 18th june ferry, fri night in IOM.

spend sat driving TT course and local roads /sunday is drag racing

on Jurby Airfield, and monday free day in IOM for driving or

whatever, return monday evening or tues morning to suit.

theres an offical drag meeting for the cars on sunday 20th at Jurby with an evening/trophy presentation that night. (small additional charge for drag event paid on gate)

timing gear is being to same set up as at TOTB, head to head 1/4m stuff. I'm nothing to do with organising this event, other than helping put it out to the clubs and groups, we are going as 200+ club members, hope to see plenty of other clubs there

Chris then followed up the day after with:

"further to the email about the trip, does anyone on here need any more info etc?

i'd like to see a good number of people come along if poss, it will

be a great social meet, some top cars, and some top driving roads, with no speed limits *(other than in 30mph towns).

cost will be approx 160quid for you, your car on the ferry, and 4

nights b+b. cant be bad at that surely?

if any of you are up for it, book anytime from now on the number

given for magic holidays. i'll be doing the same this week, and hope to meet a few club members for a convoy to the ferry etc.

we can even have a north vs south sherry drinking compo in the bar each night, first one to catch nick as he falls down drunk gets to keep him ;-)

add your names to this email or reply if you intend booking. you can book right upto the date, but once the ferries and places are full thats it! hopefully all the clubs from totb2 will be sending some

cars along, everyone seemed interested in having a good laugh and a weekend trip"

Just got this from Chris Mann

Re Isle of Man weekend, 19th and 20th June

for info, if any of you or your club members are interested in the summer

performance car weekend,i've spoken to Magic Holidays today, and confirmed

they have all the details etc if people now wish to book the IOM Drag car

weekend package. if you ring and enquire, just state you are after the

package deal for the "Jurby drag Car weekend " in june. Magic are on 01624

645777, they'll send you a fact sheet with hotel details in douglas and the

package prices to include the ferry and accomodation, or you can book

straight away with them.

sailings are twice daily, but 14.15 on fri 18th june seems good for the

majority of people, you can go a day earlier, and stop a day longer, its

upto you. we are probably all staying on the douglas sea front, they have a

variety of hotels of different star ratings in the deal, according to price

range that people want. as mentioned previously, for 3 or 4 nights B+B in a

decent hotel on the Douglas sea front, including ferry crossing, its

starting at about £165 all in per person! not bad at all.

anyone with a low car or one with a splitter/bodykit that may catch boarding

a ferry is advised to ask for the Heysham crossing, rather than the

liverpool one, as its easier and safer to load low cars on that apparently.

its up to you now folks, get booking or ring them for the info which they

will post out to you.

The itinery at the minute should be as follows:

Friday- arrive on I.O.M, social meet at night on douglas front for all the

cars. Obviously no drink driving on the island, but a good booze up no doubt

that night! The majority of people will probably be stopping in the sea

front hotels in Douglas anyway ,as the package deal hotels are listed there.

Saturday- drive around the IOM, and the TT course. Meet at lunchtime at the

cafe/railway stop up Snaefell, then drive to Port Errin for a tea-time BBQ

thats being organised.

Anyone who prefers a drag race day will be able to head for Jurby airfield

on the Saturday as well if they wish. (additional charge to race)

Sunday- Jurby airfield, head to head 1/4m and top speed racing, small

additional charge to compete. Classes and trophies for fastest cars etc.

Sunday night, trophy presentation in Douglas, trophies provided by IOM

tourist board.

Monday- Sightseeing day, open to whatever people wish to do, return home on

ferry (or stop a day longer if you wish)

the activities are all being organised by straightliners.com in

assiosciation with the IOM tourist board as its their joint event, nothing

to do with myself or 200+, but we will be going to take part.

Hopefully you can put this info out to your members and make it into a great

annual social event!

cheers chris

I was chatting with Trevor @ Straightliners last night and he showed me some pics from the Motorbike version of this event - looks absolutely awesome!

I'm gutted that I won't be able to make it this year (or next if it's around the same time) but I'll get to that damn island one of these days!

I am pretty sure I will be going! My parents live across there so it would be nice to combine a trip to see them.

I spoke to the ferry company about clearance issues and they said If I called them before I was due to travel they would make sure there was assistance to get the car on board. I was told they have ramps and wood chocks to help get lowered cars on to the Ferry but do need advanced warning. They also said it would be wise to turn up early and to make it clear on arrival that help would be needed.

Hope that helps.

received this from the organisers

to all

few last minute details, sorry about it being late on but been wating for

details myself all weekend! please pass the details onto via pm or email to

the people you know are going, rather than on public forums now as the

people going will be away for a day or two!.

basically i have had to make a change to my sailing, and now sail out from

liverpool, but a lot of people are still on the same 2.15pm ferry on friday

afternoon from heysham. make sure you are there an hour before at least

wherever you sail from.

the plan is to have an evening meet each night at 9pm approx in the old

bailey bar, which is below the chesterhouse hotel, on the sea front in

douglas, to brief people on details of meets etc.

the jurby airfield is open both days for drag and top speed runs, thats

saturday and sunday, 10am till 4pm approx.. its £30 per day to race or £50

for both days. its an open rwyb, and has been opened up to locals and

advertised on the manx radio to promote some interest. an 8s 1/4m drag car

is coming over for demo runs on both days.

saturday afternoon (approx 4- 5pm) we then plan to drive from jurby airfield

(after the drag event), and meet up with anyone else at the "bungalow",

which is near the top of snaefell on the TT course, in the car park there.

if you get a tourist map and follow the TT course from Ramsey to the top of

snaefell you will find it on the way!

from there we will drive back to douglas or to port errin, for another

rendevous, via the TT course.

saturday night approx 9pm again we will meet in the old bailey bar for a

social meet, if you fancy it or missed us in the afternoon.

sunday again there is a rwyb drag at jurby from 10am, followed by a trophy

presentation at night at the old bailey bar. monday is free for sightseeing

etc with a lot of people making their way home on the ferries later in the

day.

one piece of advice for people i have been told is to make sure your mobile

phones are unlocked for international/european use, as apparently the island

is classed as international!

your contacts on the island will be trevor duckworth (straightliners) 0797

1172210

or myself on 07761 789291

please try and meet us in the bar on friday night so we can all get together

for a beer and a chat, or see us saturday morning at Jurby airfield if you

wish.

hope you all have a great weekend, see you there. any queries give me a

bell.

rgds

chris
