Dragonball
Guys Put my foot down to get kick down and spikes madly - and I'm talking 1.6!!! Bloody scary stuff Discover that there is a small 3.5mm id hose keeps getting blown off - top of engine above the sparks cover - attached to round thingy etc. Clamped it down but keeps happening I've now turned the SBC off and it doesn't happen - stock 1.0 bar of boost (cats out etc) Any ideas? Alex
Gain to high on the SBC?
Dragonball
No - last time had it at zero set and 6 gain to see if it was just that - still had through the roof spike!
Ian C
Do you mean a spike, as in it hits 1.6 and drops back to normal, or do you mean boost creep, where it edges up to 1.6 as you keep your foot in? Have a look here For assisting us in which hose is dodgy... -Ian
Dragonball
Thanks for that link m8 - forgotten about that one - well excellent! It's the small one to the actuator that keeps popping And it does sound like I've got the 'creep' - basically pedal down to get kick down - all goes fine then 'bang' up it goes - obviously I dont keep my foot down to se if it goesdown as every warning light goes mad But not when I have SBC-ID switched off! I have got CW front pipe in - thought these didn't need a restrictor ring with them? And it's only recently been happening ???
Ian C
The hose is popping off due to the increased boost by the sounds of it, so it's a symptom rather than a cause. Could your boost controller have lost all it's settings for some reason, or maybe it's plumbing should be checked... -Ian
Dragonball
Thanks Ian - I have had my doubts over the controller recently and think it's time to check it all out Will get a friendly face at Billing to have a quick look:) Cheers Paul:thumbs:
Terminator
I told you using tubes off the bag would not work;)

Branners
Didnt you say on another thread that the boost controller has been doing a lot of clicking recently? My SBC-ID is completely silent at all times, never clicks or anything strange so perhaps the SBC-ID has failed in some way. JB

JB I could hear my boost controllers clicking at idle recently, traced it back to a kink in the vacuum hose that goes into the boost controller. In my case it was behind the dash. Is the boost controller the only boost measurement device you have?
Mark Ayling
Sorry to sidetrack slightly, but my Apexi (mechanical) boost gauge clicks under boost, I thought this was normal?
Dragonball
I'll check all the leads etc - and reset the SBC See if that works Both cats out so may need restrictor - also goiing to check the FCD setting - as want it to come in quicker Cheers guys see u tomorrow

Im sure the solenoids will click while boosting but I cant hear mine as its next to the airfilter which is making more noise than anything else up that end of the car. Paul has clicking most of the time even at idle I believe. JB
Guest Terry S
Paul If I remember I will bring my cable tie puller to billing & we'll try that. I don't think you need a restrictor ring if you can keep the boost down to 1 bar when the EBC is switched off.
Dragonball
I think that it overheated when positioned next to the turbos and then clicked away (maybe opening and shutting due to it being stuck inside?)
Chris Wilson
Sounds like a boost controller or its plumbing fault. If boost is contained without the controller working then you don't need to rstrict the exhaust.
Terminator
Paul, put a connector in between the two pipes to the boost controller, to rule out plumbing issues. My guess is the conroller is fooked.
Dragonball
Yes - think you may well be right:( Will try this out and if not send up to racelogic to check it out Cheers Paul
Dragonball
Just a quick update as seem to have got a result After re-siting the SBC box back down near the induction re-set the system and checked out the wiring not 'kinked' Result - no more spiking! I think that the box overheated and that the settings went to pot So - keep the box cool! Now just gently moving the settings up Set 10 Gain 10 = 1.16 BAR Happy with that in this heat:thumbs:
ChrisB
will try this with mine now seems to be spiking aswell
TLicense
Mine also. Reset sorted it out. What's going on with them, I thought they were supposed to be quality bits of kit?
Dragonball
I dont know M8 - never happened after this again Mind you - the turbos went soon after!!!
