Serious Boost Spike - help please

Guys

Put my foot down to get kick down and spikes madly - and I'm talking 1.6!!! Bloody scary stuff

Discover that there is a small 3.5mm id hose keeps getting blown off - top of engine above the sparks cover - attached to round thingy etc.

Clamped it down but keeps happening

I've now turned the SBC off and it doesn't happen - stock 1.0 bar of boost (cats out etc)

Any ideas?

Thanks for that link m8 - forgotten about that one - well excellent!

It's the small one to the actuator that keeps popping

And it does sound like I've got the 'creep' - basically pedal down to get kick down - all goes fine then 'bang' up it goes - obviously I dont keep my foot down to se if it goesdown as every warning light goes mad

But not when I have SBC-ID switched off!

I have got CW front pipe in - thought these didn't need a restrictor ring with them? And it's only recently been happening

???

The hose is popping off due to the increased boost by the sounds of it, so it's a symptom rather than a cause. Could your boost controller have lost all it's settings for some reason, or maybe it's plumbing should be checked...

I could hear my boost controllers clicking at idle recently, traced it back to a kink in the vacuum hose that goes into the boost controller. In my case it was behind the dash.

Is the boost controller the only boost measurement device you have?

Im sure the solenoids will click while boosting but I cant hear mine as its next to the airfilter which is making more noise than anything else up that end of the car. Paul has clicking most of the time even at idle I believe.

Paul If I remember I will bring my cable tie puller to billing & we'll try that. I don't think you need a restrictor ring if you can keep the boost down to 1 bar when the EBC is switched off.

Just a quick update as seem to have got a result

After re-siting the SBC box back down near the induction re-set the system and checked out the wiring not 'kinked'

Result - no more spiking!

I think that the box overheated and that the settings went to pot

So - keep the box cool!

Now just gently moving the settings up

Set 10

Gain 10

= 1.16 BAR

Happy with that in this heat:thumbs:
