Scooter
I have some 245/??/17's on a stock rear 9.5" wide wheel and it doesn't look stretched. Should be 'OK' but why not use say a 245 width?

Maybe he's putting it on the front and it's a clearance issue ?
berg
Reasons being ive bought new wheels 10.5j rear and 9.5j front The fronts have 255 30 tyres and they are budget tyres And also with the rears being 30 profile the fronts ideally need to be 35 My current wheels have brand new pirellis on and the fronts are 235 35 so i want to put them on the new wheels instead
mattdavies
They won't look stretched. Will be a pretty flat straight up side wall
CASHEYE
This is a 235/40/18 on a 8J front and the sidewall fits flush with the side of the alloy. So add another 1.5 inches onto the width of that wheel and you're going to have a visible stretch.
