I run Kodi on a Rasberry Pi2 with a Datho VPN connection on my TV, the nice thing is that if you have a supported HDMI cable and a Smartlink TV you can control it all from the standard remote.

There is also an app you can use which you can control Kodi if you dont have a Smartlink TV.

We hardly watch "normal" tv anymore, we can watch what we want when we want and most of the time in HD quality as well (some older shows are not HD).

We have pretty much the same add ons as Scott.

Its just a shame that Kodi 15 (Isengard) does not have Datho VPN app built in and will not work, hence why I still use Kodi 14.2

That was the one there that I spotted. Ticked every box for me, the only thing I wasn't sure was if it had a Gigabyte network port. I doubt it will, but I doubt I would max out a 5ghz connection with anything I have/need.

That's the extreme end of the spectrum though, you can get cheap boxes for £30 that'll do the job if you wanted to save a bit of dosh. I personally have an expensive one downstairs and cheap ones upstairs, the simple criteria for me was 2GB of RAM for those. Downstairs is the power house :D

Ordered the Box above it should be here tomorrow lets see what this android crap is all about.

Yeah I have xbmc that's updated to spmc I think. You tube has like a 10 step task choosing specific files from a big list, but no one video shows the same route so not so trusting as to which method to use. The xbmc is not being supported since August and becoming unreliable so rather shelling out for a a replacement I was hoping to just upgrade to Kodi on the same box

Working fine for me :)

While I'm here...

I installed Genesis, but it was next to useless. I wonder if BT are blocking all the streams.

Shame, as it looked really promising until I tried to watch something.

It's on the way out I believe. The makers have something new coming out this year. The scrapers are slowly but surely disappearing. I can still get everything to work though. My backup is phoenix :)

Do you have any more info on their new app??

Nothing at all, all I read was they were working on it for this year.

Rock Crusher seems excellent for films at the moment.

Rockcrusher is on Phoenix too, very good streams.

I was bought a Now TV box for christmas, is there anything useful I can do with that? Seems to be one of the boxes at the worse end of the scale!

Nothing that I know of but you may be able to install android on it?

A bit off-topic but might be of interest;

Despite paying for a premium streaming account, I didn't find the whole 'Kodi box' lived up to expectations. It would often take a few attempts to find a working stream, and it was annoying knowing that the shows were often on newsgroups in better quality (1080p 5.1) than available from the streams.

After using Exodus for a few weeks, I moved to Sonarr, which does automated downloads of TV Shows from newsgroups or torrents, a few months ago. Works flawlessly. Obviously there are limitations, it doesn't do live TV, or Movies.

Was a no brainer for me, as I already had a newsgroup account. I'd have done it sooner, but I didnt believe how accurately / well automated downloads would work.

Its free, just pay for the newsgroup subscription at ~£5 a month.

The only other downside is that it does require a computer do be on 24/7 to monitor for the available downloads. Again, I already had my 'Media PC', doing this, So no change for me.

Edit to add - I just use 'manual' newsgroups (same account) for Movies.
