Attero
What do you guys think of aisin parts. Been recommended to purchase an aisin clutch as it is "OEM quality" for much cheaper. I was told they actually manufacture OEM toyota parts. I'm sure you guys know or thing or two about this.
Nic
Aisin manufacturer brake calipers for Toyota, not sure if they also produce their clutches. OEM Toyota clutches are not that expensive from memory, what is the difference in price?
Attero
Without discount, Toyota want about £360. Can get an Aisin one for about £230.
ripped_fear
Ring Steve manley Luke, for the difference in price by the time discount is done you may aswell have oem.
Attero
But I'm asking if Aisin is OEM. No point paying the extra amount if im getting the same thing.
Josh42
Aisin certainly produce the oil pumps, water pumps and clutches for Toyota as standard.

Ah I get you, who told you they are 'oem quality'? In my experience garages will normally say that to get you to buy blue print items. Maybe give Toyota a call and ask them direct, I guess they would know.
Andy Blyth
I've got a stock 6-speed pressure plate (bought from Toyota) in front of me and it's stamped AISIN if it helps.
Attero
Yeah. The guy said it was manufactured for toyota and couldn't quite work out if he meant for them or for toyota cars as a non-OEM. If I can clarify this, I might as well go with Aisin. Apparently Toyota just slap a large price tag on it. If so... this is certainly an interesting new development for me. Shame as I just spent a bomb diggity on a water pump.
Attero
Just explored this further. Aisin is a manufacturer owned by Toyota. Aisin built the w58. I'm fairly confident that this is the way forward without paying Toyota's high prices but for the same thing.
Kirk
Certainly saves a few. I've been buying OEM parts without the Toyota stamp and price tag for years except in certain situations when you have no choice.
