Garage called me down today literally 30mins in to stripping the car down to sort the valve stem seals. They noticed the small standard turbo had a lot of play in the shaft and had also been trying to eat something hard!

The blades of the turbine have chunks missing?? I have recently gone BPU.. Could this have caused this damage??

Also, steps forward, I'm limited with my w58 box but I am guessing replacing the stock turbos for new standard or slightly uprated is the best option?

The garage will not know how to turn it single and I haven't got a bloody clue.

What would you guys do?

alot of people would say thats normal mate, the main thing is to check the wheel on the exhaust side but that means taking them apart.

Seriously? How is it normal? Is that wear and tear? There is a small amount of smoke after boost... But it seems bloody quick still...

We need a much more detailed and clearer photo. What would I do in your situation? As much over time as I could get, that could be costly ;)

If it has a none stock air filter, or filter element i would suspect that initially.

I'm my own boss, best way :D I hold the purse strings.

The non stock air filter was on it when I bought it. Its a piece of crap off ebay and is due to be replaced... Looks like it'll be replaced now! Never thought for a second it could be that but cheap build quality would do that... Hmmm

The compression test came back 175 on all cylinders which I believe is good... So hopefully nothing has got in the engine....

If only I was buying a supra with the Knowledge I have now....

So anyway, fook it, upgraded tubs it is. Advice please guys...... Anyone got uprated twins?

I've seen Supras with that sort of intake fin damage on the turbos last for years and pull really strongly. They seem very resilient in this regard. But if you have access to a good used set I'd swap them :)

Yeah I think so Ian, price dependant. CR Turbos can turn my turbos into stage 2 for around 1K so I'm very tempted but I'd rather put my cash towards the 6sp box that's for sale...
