Most of us just remove the j-spec backing plate altogether but it can be trimmed to fit around the larger front calipers if you want. It's only like tin plate (but steel of course) I guess you could modify it quite easily with a Dremmel. I just removed it when I converted my RZ to UK spec fronts.
