JustGav
It was the mk3 that had the 1jz engine I believe, the 7ms got the W58

JSeaman
The NA had the W58 and the Turbo (7MGTE) had the R154. The auto for both 7M and 1JZ had A340 variants but the 1JZ also had an R154 when in manual form but they are rare If you want more info I did a summary of model information on the mk3 here: http://mkiiisupra.net/bbs/showthread.php?t=19641

JamieP
The mk3 manual turbo has a R154 but iirc the bell housing to fit a 2jz is fortunes, better to get one from a soarer as they fit.
Stephen G
R154 bellhousing for 2jz:) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1jz-gte-2jz-gte-toyota-Supra-Bellhousing-r154-FREE-SHIP_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem414dd9e43dQQitemZ280478999613QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
bondango
For the mk3 UK/EURO R154 to fit the MKIV supra, you need 1. 1JZGTE Flywheel and Bolts 2. 1JZGTE Clutch kit 3. 1JZGTE R154 Bellhousing Now, unfortunately not all R154's are Equal. Supra mk3 R154's have a standard postioned Shifter housing. Using this in the MKIV puts the gearstick to far forward towards the centre console. The Chaser Varients (rare R154 to find) use a shifter housing Extension, which positions the gearstick correctly in the MKIV UK Mk3 Supra r154 Chaser/Soarer R154 (Shifter extension shown) Chaser/Soarer R154 in mkiv Supra Couple of options to do this.. Custom shifter extension Or buying all the needed parts and converting Mk3 R154
garethr
There's also an intermediate position from early Soarers (Mk3 in the background). Last I heard Toyota's stock had all been sold to Americans, though.
bondango
yeah gareth forgot about the intermediate housing, though it requires the correct gearstick IIRC (The bendy one as i call it lol) ??
garethr
That's the one. It was a cheap way to do the conversion... until the Americans started importing 1JZs for their SCs.
bondango
there are few companies looking into replicating them though . Seems the intermediate one suits the more common Rx7 and Datsun (nissan s13, s14,s5) conversions
