Good or Bad Supra

i think he has bought it not sure, alot of money asking for it aint it lol oh well good luck with it i say

He did say he is looking in the OP, so hopefully he hasn't spent his hard earned. 5.5k is a hell of a lot for that car, and you'd expect an absolutely mint NA for that.

Look at Dave's 97 Facelift 6-speed SZ-R - absolutely mint and he wants £4800 for it. It's gunmetal, so it's not white, but it is stunning.

I guess. I have checked the classified here they are all very nice and reasonable priced, but i'm after a white one.

It took me 9 months to find a white manual in good condition and i had to do a 230 mile round trip to get it.

Dont rush it, and make sure you HPI it, i nearly bought a write off not too long back.

I don't understand why everyone is saying it is a dog of a supra, all we know about it is that the owner is asking too much, it has skirts that need a bit of work, and wheels that have been touched up badly.

New wheels and a little work on the skirts and as far as we know it would be perfect. I am sure there may well be other things wrong with it but nothing we know about, so it may still be worth looking at if the seller will come to a realistic price....which they will have to as it won't sell at that.

Hit the nail on the head there mate really. As you haven't seen it, and you've seen pictures of the state it is currently in, more often than not, work which is required externally more than often points to more work being done where you can't see it. Fact of the matter is, the car hasn't been looked after.

Personally though, I did say myself, that you'd need a bit of a reduction in price to justify buying an NA that needs work doing.

I'll point once again to Dave's SZ-R, a cheaper price, newer and a facelift. Where's the sense in buying this for more money, when it requires work? Just because it's white? Hmm...

I aint been on lately to reply, so since i hav the chance i do it now.

Nope i didnt buy it, i was 90% close to buying it until you guys told me other wise, the funny thing is that now that car i looked at is on pistonheads

http://pistonheads.com/sales/1470879.htm

Just reading the advert and he said that he did lots of work on it and when i spoke to him in person he didnt do anything to the car and its standard since he brought it.

It looks better in pictures then in person. lol looking at it now makes me want to buy.lol

Again after everyones advise i kinda understand at what price i should pay for depending on condition of the car. I did have alook at the car and yes its very nice, but i have to travel to Scotland it get. I don't mind a few hundred miles but not few thousand =/

I spoken to the owner after posting up here and i ask if he would re consider the price and all he did was knock off a few hundred pounds making it a nice £5000.00.

I dont mind doing a few work on the car but not for £5000.00.

Any N/A for 5k has got to be kind of special in my opinion, I have seen some over the last 2 months that fitted that bill. You will be looking for a late year, low miles , low amount of owners, pretty stock with maybe a few nice bits on it. Take your time in looking. The right car will find you and dont give in to temptation and buy a car on impulse.

Your time will come young Skywalker;)

Fwiw, Supra's are NOT cars that you can simply expect to find close by. This make finding a 'good' one even harder. You will not do yourself any favours by willing to travel, thus having to accept what ever turns up within your prefered radius. I have always been happy to travel the length of the county many times as needed until I find the right car. After 1 year I ended up getting a club members car from Aberdeen - it was 'the one' for me over many I had seen.

I've seen that car, plus i rang him because the advert says its manual but the picture suggested its a auto. I would prefer a manual.

I guess you are right, but right now i aint seen one that i would go the distance yet.

Why don't you look for a TT?

I would want a TT but my budget is my current car. If i could get the most out off it i might or i could use the money to do bits and bobs with a N/A. Plus my insurance aint going to be cheap.

Insurance for the TT and NA is normally roughly the same, sometimes cheaper for a TT.

Its a waiting game trying to find the right car, 1 will come, you just got to make sure your in position to buyh it.

I guess i'm in the position to buy a supra, but i am waiting for that right one.

walk away mate mine was half that NA i know
