Sorry to hear that Lee, you seem to have nothing but grief!

That gasket will definately be the reason why your blades are damaged. Although like everyone else says, the Precision 4088 turbos are known for there exhaust housing weakness.

Borg Warner wise, I will be keeping these in stock very soon, I've got 3 turbos coming in from the US next week. 1 of them is my own car actually, Bullseye Borg Warner S368 with race cover turbo which is basically an S300 with S400 parts, cant wait to try it out. I dont think you can beat these turbos for price, reliability and availability, oh and they seem to work rather well to.

Tricky is saying it is the GARRETT housing that is flawed Paul, I have always used Precision Turbos that are basically hybrid garrett units and have never had a problem at over 2.5 bar, I have also heard that it is the Garrett that has the problem which is why the Boostlogic cars run units altered by precision.

Yes! have a word with Chris Wilson, at the time of the multiple failures (except for a a couple of R,s, don't know about them)

Chris had several conversations with either Garrett or another turbo specialist and got the same answer from them, i also talked to Turbo Technics and was given the same explanation.

Yep, AET Turbos modify the Garrett housings to stop it happening, they did this to the unit on my car and a few others we're running, no problems so far.

What is it that fails on the housing then Paul??? For the money Garrett want I would expect them to last a bit better.

We are thinking about getting a spare turbo for my car, it will prob be a large frame ie T6 flange 4" Exhaust outlet, we will prob try a new company called Billet to see how god they are, they look pretty impressive to me.

I run a Billet and am well pleased with it.

No problems as yet :)

What bhp are you looking for (and @ what boost)?

I spoke to Geoff at Full Race about this in a few emails. He reckons it should spool quicker than the old T67Dbb and produce more top end aswell. So anything around 650bhp is fine with me. I guess it will run around 1.7bar, but will see what we can get to on the dyno on super unleaded.

The BW does look a good unit, compare my billet T67 to ryans BW and they are very similar till the extra boost i run overtakes his, looking forward to seeing what Smarty's car (and ryans when he ups the boost) is like when fully mapped, might try one out myself.

Cant remember exactly but it was something to with machining the housings out for more clearance I think, they aren't designed to take the heat they are put through in the aftermarket world so tend to warp. Your right though, you pay that money you expect the best.

I am looking at 620-650 bhp ... not sure whether 88-75 or 91-79 ...

91-79 I reckon matey. I've got an 88-75 and 91-79 coming next week that I'll be trying out on a car with stock cams, both will be run up to around 1.7 bar, both will be dyno'd as well so should be interesting to see what they put out. I'll also be comparing it with a PT67 billet 0.68 non BB to see what the differences are.

That'll be very nice Paul. I will make my choice once your tests done. :)

P.S. Both cars are on stock engine, are they?

Well my target with the 4088 was 600 bhp so any thing about that will be perfect. With 650 injectors, 264 cams and was 1.5 bar of boost...

Id go for S300SX 88/75 on a 1.00ar, they compare it to the 4088 in this link.

EDIT.

I wouldn't rule the 88/75 out Lee. Only thing that's not in your favour is the manifold you have. Steve and myself use a twin scroll one. Geoff recommends the twin scroll set up :)

Ahh, if you are on a undivided manifold then go with and undivided turbo, i would email Geoff for advice.
