tbourner
Why do so many people insist on asking how much our dog cost us? It's so bloody rude!! It's not a f**king car is it!!! How much does your wife cost mate!!

kslb
I would say it depends on the context in which it is asked, if it is an enquiry as they are interested in purchasing one then it could be forgiven. What sort of dog do you have (if I may ask) Pics? I am obviously a dog lover, have four myself. I hate people asking how much my car is worth as well, I just say its not for sale. Alaskan Malamute, called Loki, he did have a blog but it keeps going down! http://homepage.ntlworld.com/tbourner10/pics/mals/Loki/7-8months/DSCF0041.jpg http://homepage.ntlworld.com/tbourner10/pics/mals/Loki/6-7months/DSCF0025.JPG I don't mind answering questions about him at all, everyone always asks loads of questions, but how much he cost is a bit like how much do you earn, it's not something you just ask someone you've just met! The other thing is there are plenty of dog nappers around, and although I'm sure they'd know how much thier targets are worth it's not nice blurting it out that we own an expensive dog! I usually just say 'lots', and people get the idea mostly, otherwise I say "only about £50, he's not a husky after all!".

R Black
I just came back from Barcelona and the most common dog there looked a lot like yours, probably not as much hair though, summer coats shorter? lovely looking dogs, they're quite vocal though are'nt they. tbourner
I love Elkhounds too, Zoe wants some Samoyeds, if we ever move to a bigger house we'll probably end up with loads of dogs!

He's what's known as a wooly, not really breed standard and shouldn't be bred from, but we wanted one of them and as we told the breeder we probably wouldn't be showing him she gave us Loki. Both Malamutes and Huskies blow their coat about twice a year, so it all falls out over a week or 2, but it's never any longer or shorter throughout the year other than that. As for howling, Loki doesn't, he grumbles hello when he meets people but doesn't howl, he only barks occasionally. There are some that howl A LOT though!! Samoyeds are worse apparently. tbourner
Whats the service, maintenance costs like? Service intervals? Maintenance is OK if you've got decent insurance and it doesn't require a lot of servicing, although he had a friend around last week and he really wanted to service him: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/tbourner10/pics/mals/Loki/7-8months/DSCF0025.jpg

By the way when my father sees a dog on display so to speak he always says "oh he's got his lipstick out" the first time my wife heard it she didn't know whether to laugh or gag! Havard
What is wrong with asking how much something cost?? I would just be curious to see if I could afford one..!! I don't see the problem tbh. Reminds me of a song "How much is that doggy in the window?" Woof Woof..!! The one with the waggy tail, woof woof. How much is that doggy in the window, woof woof. I do hope that doggy's for sale....woof woof..!! The second verse starts....."Fook off and don't be so fooking rude..!! Oi you cheeky cnut, how much does your wife charge?? etc etc. Great song!! H.
