Wez
Hey All, I guess others have noticed the prices climbing again, whats causing this time apart from greedy oil companies? National average from the AA for 100.0 p/litre for May http://www.theaa.com/motoring_advice/fuel/ As the pound becomes stronger and the price of barrels remains low surely the cost at the pump should come down not go up, my theory is since the oil companies now know we paid when it was over £1 they are slowly increasing back to this rate. Dave
oil prices are below 50 dollars a barrel so the pump price should be mid 80p per litre were just being ripped off cause we never do anything about it just paid 96p in morrisons boycot all garages that are near the £1 mark
RedM
I read a report over the weekend about why the prices have gone up suddenly. According to the fuel people (I can't remember the organisation name) it's all because the weather has improved. Apparently this cause more people to use their cars, that creates more demand for fuel, the laws of supply and demand kick in and, Bobs your cross-dressing uncle, prices rise. Bunch o' c**ts? snake
They are storing the oil in tankers kept at sea, so the amount used appears to go up. Then they sell it when the price rises.
andygood
Did ye're gummint raise petrol duties recently, by any chance? Our muppets did in their 'Emergency Budget' last month, so we're up to around €1.18 per litre (£1.01 in pounds, shillings & pence:p)

snake
but the prices have been steadily increasing since January, so I can't see how their explainations works.. i agree with homer its just another way for them to engineer a price rise to make more money. Last time it went up it was due to the price of a barrel of oil, now its the weather!!!

AJI
The reason the prices go up all the time, barring the governments usual trick of making the motorist pay for over spending in other areas of public services through fuel duty etc, is that fuel speculators on the stock/commodities markets are all grouping together to predict the price of oil to be worth more in the coming months than what it really should be. The usual reasons for this is that these stock market players usually have vested interests either by oil shares or some other financial incentives to force the oil price upwards. These people just like the givernment don't give a flying rat's turd about the impact it has on the public and their day to day lives, and to that of many businesses which are only just getting by with the recession. The laws regarding such activities are very lax at the moment. It has been happening for years with regards to oil price.
Alex C
I'll join in on this one...why has diesel suddenly now been cuaght up by petrol? A few months back there was at least 5p, sometimes 8p per litre difference between the two. Some new refining process? NO....diesel (I think) is a by product of producing petrol and in fact had no reason to be as high as petrol (5 years ago it was a lot less) until people started to by a new wave of refined and efficient diesel cars. Then suprise suprise the price rockets and overtakes petrol to a level where its a toss up between the two fuel types as to getting your money back through fuel economy. Now suddenly petrol catches up....complete shower of bastards the lot of them, do they not realise that increases in fuel make nearly everything else transported around the country go up as well. Where are the regulators on this one...same place as the parliment expenses office employees no doubt. I hate this country.

Fitz
Yeah, I have noticed this. It's like andy said, they not long ago increase the duty on fuel tax I believe last month, so it's on the steady rise. I doubt we've seen the worst yet though. Hold onto your wallets guys.

extendor
Just been looking at a V8 weekend toy for once the aero goes. Real sh1tty mileage and tons and tons of CO2 for feeding the trees. Now thats what I call an environmentally friendly car. If you got the cash what does it matter what you pay. The petrol tax is only a tax on the poor. I thought we were all rich on here. What you moaning about.

Can see two parked out in the bay now. Huge bloody great things. Lets hope they dont spring a leak or else it will be a real natural disaster on our front doorstep.
