Well I get home to find out the washing machine is broken, so I stripped that down and have now got to find parts for that on a sunday:( I then find a water leak under the sink and have sort that. I go to fit the wheels I have got and one of the hub rings is missing:taped:. I just sit down to sort out my ext HDD and its shat itself, No power, so I swap the power pack over and still nothing:taped: So now I'm really peed off as that drive had ALL my pictures and music on:rolleyes:

I thought well its broken so lets see how it works, So glad I did that as its just a normal hdd with external board:) So I pulled it apart and swapped it to slave with the jumpers and I'm now copying all my stuff to the other pc and I'm going to make a disk backup of it too;)

I think I'm going to have a small drink and go to bed:search: WHY ME???

Rant over

Dave:)

Definitely get some with multiple disks, either raid 1 or raid 5 at the BARE minimum. That way if you loose a disc you won't loose the data. Check careful as a lot of this NAS units which are cheap, are either raid0 or jbod and offer zero protection and in fact an almost enhanced risk, because if the data is split across all the disks without any safety you would loose all the data by loosing any one of the discs.

RAID 0 = striping, ie half the data on disc 1, half on disc 2

RAID 1= mirror, ie a copy on disc 1 and a copy on disc 2

RAID 5 = leeetle more complicated, suffice to say it offers protection, but you don't waste an entire disk (requires 3 or more discs)

Hey! It could be worse. You could have been burgled, had your house nearly burn down or, horror of horrors, not been able to decide which wheels to buy.

I have to admit after writing that, then reading the other horror storys that have happened to members on here, I did think I was abit of a cnut...... But bloody hell what wheels would you buy????:p

Dave, I fully understand you frustration. My washing machine blew up over xmas, my dishwasher hose split end of november and flooded the kitchen. The laminate started lifting up so the insurance company are replacing it, But the day before I ripped the old stuff up to find water still laying there.

The insurance company should have sent someone to dry the kitchen but didn't so now the units have rotten. The surveyor has been out and said the concrete floor is wet along with the walls, This will need to be dried out, then the units fitted, then the floor. So i have concrete floors until it is all sorted.

Oh and my koi keep dying! hopefully nothing to do with the garden full of s*$& where the drains blocked and overflowed and filled my garden with three houses worth of poo.!

Bloody hell! My house this winter has turned into a mushroom farm. I have 9inch solid brickwork and concrete floors NO air bricks and as much condensation as you want. We spend most of our time bleaching the walls of our daughters room so the spores do not affect her lungs and we are moving her into our room in the summer and having her room, as ours is not as bad. We have spoken to lots people and builders and they say there is fook all we can do apart from have big de-humidifiers in each room:blink:

I'm thinking SPAIN!!!! or the streets :taped:

Thats not good, Have a look at the PGA web site, it has a great section about condensation.
