I've always wanted a scratch built man-o-war, but good ones are rare / expensive / abroad / in museums. Found this for sale by accident, amazing price and now its mine :ecstatic:

All I've got to do now is get it 300 odd miles back here safe and sound....

That deserves a show case matey

Nice ship.

Get some cotton buds and warm water, then remove all the dust from the rigging and get inside a case.

IF you want a ship in a bottle, I should have this bottle of coke finished by lunch time.

With a trim here and there i'm sure that would fit.

hummm,.. Where did I put that hammer?

Very nice! My Dad and I half heartedly looked at one of those "build it yourself" HMS Victories at the weekend. A lot of effort though, although the end result is very impressive.

Thats the thing, time. I dont really have the time or commitment to build something like this from a kit (theres some really good wooden kits out there). Doing it from scratch is something else again. Should be delivered tonight :)

Are you into building this sort of thing Ewen?

I've dabbled Ken..a fishing boat or two and a clinker built launch years ago from wooden kits. I started a scratch built trawler when I was a boat building apprentice, but never finished it.

The reason I ask is that I've got an unfinished Billing Bluenose II here that my Dad never got round to finishing before he passed away. It'd be nice for it to go to a worthy home.

very nice dude, any idea what ship it is or is it just a generic ship of the line?

I quote...

A 74-gun man o'war, LE SUPERBE was built from the design of one of the most famous naval engineers: Jacques Noël SANE. For 30 years, SANE designed French naval warships. Begun in the shipbuilding yard of Brest in 1782, and launched in 1784, LE SUPERBE formed part of the fleet of Admiral Villaret de Joyeuse.
