Supra Handling...????

They don't show the Supra *really* doing it's thing but they highlight how much less body roll you get when you sort out the UK suspension :)

I know what you mean about the roll, but its only initial, as soon as it starts leaning it sticks. I felt confident going round the ring.

Agreed, it's not a scary "gonna fall over" roll like my Punto but it's definately a little soft for my tastes, the pics from the day made it look a lot worse but the handling was still amazing on the limit.

I know what you mean, I was like 'hmm when I first started going into corners fast, but then realised it stuck so well once it levelled out.

How have you modified yours? harder springs? I find the ride is harsh even on stock suspension now with my 18s on. I cant be bothered altering it further right now.

Every person thats been in the car around a long sweeping A or motorway road has commented on how flat it is. And the turn in is very sharp. All this with Tein's of course.

The one downside to stiffer suspension is bumps while accellerating. Go over one and the rears just spin up!

Roadholding vs handling. Most people who ask this question aren't sure what they are asking!.

Roadholding = how a car drives while in grip

Handling = how a car drives beyond the grip limit.

fwiw I find dry roadholding amazing, wet you need to be careful with the loud pedal. Handling in all respects is amazing, superb for pitch, balance, and predictability.

IMO this can all change with shyte tyres, wrong suspension geometry, and a crap driver.

hope this helps. :-)

I don't agree. There are plenty of ride and handling characteristics that make a car a joy or a pain to drive that happen well before the limit of grip. Turn-in, bump steer, torque-steer, tramlining, body pitch and roll to name but a few.

Exactly, couldn't agree more. And it's REALLY easy to mod a Supra suspension or wheel / tyre package and make the car a lot worse than a stock one. I see this every week, sadly, with Supras and loads of other cars.

You miss my point completely. How the car is in or out of grip is two different subjects as many drivers dont want to break traction, other love to drift, I just wanted to clarify the question. I made an "overview"

of what they terms mean. My original source of info was the descriptions of Howard Walker who has reviewed 100's of cars. Maybe he is way off the mark, what do you think?

Who has torque steer in a RWD car? not a big issue IMO, In FWD, now that's a different story..............

Chiefgroover...This also was one of my choices.(I had a R33gtr lined up)..BUT...After much research and many, many telephone calls,I found out,Thay spin the bigend bearing on number 5 cylinder...And needing a £6500 engine rebuild...I phoned the experts to ask when i could expect this senario to show its evil head...The reply was.....Quote-Its a lottery,The more the engine was tuned,The more it happens....Quote-its not bad in the GTS models standard...More common on the GTR`s.Becouse of the BHP increase...And the expectations of this happening goes up as the BHP does....This put me off the skyline....As one specialist had 6 Skyline engines in his garage requiring engine re-builds...And to be truthfull.....I cannot play a £6500 lottery...

As stated..This is the words from "Specialists"..Not me...

I could`nt take the risk......Kev.
