jacko
Rite.... I have a 6 speed gear knob on my TT and also wen i rang Toyota for a part the other day, it came up as a 6 speed wen i gave them the engine and model codes, but.......... i sure as hell cant find a 6th gear! Is it possible for it to be stuck or something? Or does that mean it had a different box on it? Im going to get it looked at as soon as its insured and on the road
spidermonkey
Probably not helpful but 6th is down and right from 5th Sorry, can you select all other gears easily (inc reverse?)
jacko
Ye all the other gears are fine. So 6th is down and right from 5th and reverse is just to the right of that?

Scott
I thought 6th was straight down from 5th. I've certainly never noticed it move. There is a bit of a notch where you cover the reverse plate while pulling down into 6th but thats about all i have noticed. Possibly a conversion with only a 5sp box? spidermonkey
Mine is deffinately down and right from 5th, as said earlier are you sure it isn't a TT connected to a 5 speed box?

Thorin
6th gear is straight down from 5th, as per Brett's fantastically accurate diagram. Anyone who says otherwise is wrong, and should be publicly flogged.

The only "to the right" motion i can feel is if i slowly come out of 5th i can feel a slight notch to the right. I assume this is where reverse would be if it wasn't locked. As i move into 6th the gearstick moves back left a little bit to be direcly underneath where it left 5th, i assume this is it coming out the little notch. I've never seen a 6 speed box where you go down, right then down from 5th into 6th.

That will be the one, its not 'straight' down, yet neither is it a mile away.

The final position of 6th gear is directly below the final position of 5th gear.
