Put your handbags away guys! :D

it has declared manufactured 1995 on the v5

Something a bit fishy going on there then... Check the VIN number stamped on the back of the firwall (Just to the right of the brake master cylinder) amd also check the date stamp on the seatbelt tag, just make sure it all ties up to a 93 car.

Is that the same as 'Date of first registration' on the V5?

We know they were registering cars with the import date, but we (I?) don't know what they fill in on the V5.

It'd be interesting to know what Razza's W-reg (2000) 1996 car says on the V5 too.

'95 would be an 'N' though wouldn't it, so it makes sense. It just means that as well as designating the cars with the incorrect reg letter (N in this case), they put that down on the V5 as the date of manufacture, which makes sense as that it's where the reg letter is meant to come from.

I just wasn't sure if they were recording the correct manufacture date, and the correct date of first registration, and then using the latter for letter-designating the cars instead of the former, but it seems that this isn't the case.

yeah, If I knew what you meant carlos I'm sure you're right ;)

It say 'declared' manufactured 1995. it doesn't say it 'was' manufactured in '95. the stamped vin on the bulkhead is right and it all looks straight and true etc, did an hpi and that was all clear etc although I realise this only applies since it has been in the uk.

I think it was probably just over enthusiastic, import form filling I'm sure there are probably a lot of fraudulant imported vehicles. as I say it doesn't worry me one bit. I would still have bought it at the price even if it was reg'd as an L reg

aaaah I reread and carlos said exactly what I just said, just in less words, and more to the point... :)

Yeah I had to have a tripple take to see if it made sense.. too many letters, latters and regs ;)

It does seem to have been a common occurance in the past and as you said, nothing untoward, just a well known DVLA mistake that's all.

wouldn't have bothered you and might have even turned around some honesty.

I'll keep it short and sweet this time so you might get it into your thick skull, for the final time "I HAVENT BOTHERED RESEARCHING INTO IT SO I DONT KNOW!!" FS

I'm just all the more confused as to why though now, and had begun to think that the car wasn't written off after all.

Yeah there’s another conspiracy theory for you to obsess about!
