Nic
How can i tell if i have uk or j spec rears?, also what pads do you guys recomend for fast road/ mild track day use with BPU's? Pics of the larger 4 pot front and 2 pot rear calipers here, if your calipers are a different shape they are most likely the smaller ones. If you're still not sure post pics so we can identify which they are. http://mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=98436 I'd go for Endless CCX or possibly CCR, although these are more track orientated so take a while to warm up. If you'd like prices just let me know. http://www.endless-sport.co.jp/brake_pad/cc_r/img/photo.jpg http://www.endless-sport.co.jp/brake_pad/cc_x/img/photo.jpg
mikeyb10supra
I personally would opt for big AP or brembo conversion correctly setup, or a set of UK's with some DBA drilled discs
Antnicuk
i definately have uk fronts, what do J spec rears look like, are they a sliding single sider? I would like prices for pads, i will look tonight but i'm sure they are the uk rears also. I'm going to the ring soon so i need something that will take a little abuse. matt k
I think big brake kits are a waste of time and money. the jspec ones are fine with the right pads. For the boys with 500 bhp+ LOL.
Gazboy
Im looking at having a hi spec monster conversion put on my car, just wanted to know if any members have these already? They are excellent but their customer service is an absolute joke. If you don't mind waiting weeks on end for a phonecall, and months for your actual brakes then they are a good bet. They are alloy too so quite light.
TopgunTT
Cheers for that Gazboy. Do u have them on yours? They look fab and im sure they will be more than enough for my needs. There pretty expensive but should last a while.
Gazboy
No, I have UK's. Some mates had Hi Specs on various cars though.

mattysupra
well i have played with lots of different set ups over the years. Started with jap spec They just not big enough, tried all types of different disks and pads to compensate for the size! In fact i tried some trd pads which lasted 6 laps from new of brunters test track. Worsted pad i ever tried. Played with high spec etc to. Better but still crap! Best set up i used was standard UK spec callipers ( think i paid 440 quid brand new for both callipers from Toyota) and 3G grooved disks with ceramic pads from ebc. I hear alcon is the best set up you can get tho. The problem is when you bolt these big brake kits on is that your master cylinder cant pump the right amount of fluid for the callipers to work correct. Alcon match there callipers to your master cylinder. People say to me that there brembo kit is better than there standard UK callipers. Is that correct? There comparing used and worn out disks, callipers with possible 80k on them and pads to a brand new kit! Of course the new kit will feel better. Fair enoughs the bigger disks may cool better but you now have a car that is not balanced under breaking with the incorrect brake pedal travel to power the front and rear callipers properly. They will be out of sink! I have proved my set up on track against many cars where there locking wheels up etc when they should not be. Its down to incorrect fitment. Gazboy
Should be ok i have a set of 19s on. Think i will need a set of spacers? It isn't the rim, it's the spokes that need to clear the callipers. Try to avoid spacers if you can.

Gazboy
Ask people with the same wheels as you which brakes they have, or buy a set of UK17's for £300 or a set of second hand alloys from the sale section which mentions fitting over UKs or BBK's.
