I watched the Top Gear episode with the SLR and the noise of it got me thinking - does anyones single soop sound anywhere near as good? D

18 months and only 1000 miles - tells me it's spent more time in a garage than being used. if its an auto make sure the gear changes are very sharp and sudden. excessive slurring indicates a fcuk'd box.

one more d) if you dont derive any enjoyment whatsoever from changing a gear and like to focus on controlling the vehicle when on any type of straight or bend (including a drag strip) and like to enjoy the full power of the Supra whilst maintaining total engine integrity

yea that shift down doesnt happen unless he's applying too much throttle so it kicks down and lobs in a turbo. ive lost the back cos of that turbo rush just pulling out my driveway.

ok this Model Report business. you cant import 97 Turbos - nothing to do with transmission. Fails on emissions on the Turbo models. The NAs just about make it. Emissions regs get tighter as the years go by. If you did manage to scrape through on emissions, it'll only be applicable to 97 - 99 (or sommit), cos the regs get tougher thereafter. I've been through all this (believe me - I had a 98 VVTi stuck at port for about 7 months, even considered tunneling!) ... and there aint no loopholes anymore - only favours. o and cost - if you get through first time you're looking at about £3500 - if you fail, then there aint no rebate. You would own the rights to the report and others would pay, say £250 to use it, to get their Supra through ESVA - then you can register it for UK roads.

condition of alloys and tyres? - no kerbing and even tyre wear? what sort of % rubber left?

haha when i saw the subject here i thought !!! seems everyones more or less wise to not attacking this one. I drove a Tiptronic (semi-auto). Admittedly I never used the thumb shifts cos its a toy, but the box changed seamlessly - and i mean it. i imagine the previous auto box was similar and the differences are measured by a computer. the 98 VVti was first rate - never worried about a clutch and chilled in stop start traffic. only driven manuals a couple of times but i prefer to plant and steer for me life. its personal choice. one aint better than the other.

yea just like on Need For Speed - the Mustang always end up the best car! Mustang muhuhahaha - a 21st century piece of engineering with like a 5.8 litre V8 engine putting out only 300bhp - thats awful power extraction! The Toyota Celica 1.8VVti 4 cyl puts out 180bhp - puts it in perspective what yankee engineering achieves vs Toyota!

yo. couldnt help noticing the drag races involving supras on the vids. the starts seemed to be losing people alot of time cos the power just doesnt get laid down by the tyres and/or too much turbo lag - do any of u guys who go to Santa Pod feel this disadvantage and is there anything u can do about it? D

they have flame throwers installed on car doors in South Africa (not legal of course). same problem with booby trappin house - Emergency services might need to force their way in.

ah ive heard of this sort of thing...have u gotta turn the ignition off first b4 handing keys over as u might not get a chance? it says that it ignores random PIN entries for a few mins - what happens after a few mins? ta

whats a blackjax? there was a gang in London featured on a documentary about a year ago doing this every night to owners of performance cars. the undercover cops watched them most nights but kept missing them in action so did nothing as they had insufficient evidence. the marked cars ended up chasing them after a raid to the dismay of the unmarked undercover cops - but they couldnt keep up with the Evo 6 and they got away. not sure if they ever caught em in the end.

My folks told me of a local newspaper story a week or so ago in the Great Barr area (Birmingham / West Brom). It reminded me of why i didnt like bringing my soop to London where I have a numbered parking space. Basically, a couple of work-shy tossas broke into some guys house, beat him up and took his Supra keys. They sped off but managed to make it about 200 yds down the road before rolling the car. Of course, as criminals are like cartoon characters, they were perfectly ok and ran off from the wreck. just beware of roaming late night nobs.

have to hammer the earlier point home - you can blag your proposal form but it all 'hits the fan' when you make a claim. anti-fraud databases for motor insurance were set up in the late 90s and are now very advanced. your age is gonna be a problem on a Twin Turbo - I wouldnt be surprised if you had to be 25+ before you can insurance on a group 20 due to lack of driving experience. try http://www.hyperformance.com - see if they quote any different. ahh TPO is refused cos of the value of the car + they might not want to take the risk in any case. often an insurer is more concerned by the injury aspect of the claim + the fact you might take out a 30k Merc, so often comp and TPO are similar. I used RAC - very handy - didnt care about my 3 points. I was a named driver and insured in my dads name -700ish btw. and i have no NCB. I saw a couple adverts for hyperformance.com (or something similar) for young drivers. D

Talking of vids - has anyone been onto GT Cars website and downloaded the vid for the 20k supra on autotrader - the end of the vid will keep a smile on yer face. i dont think theres any others uploaded to their site yet. I've got a Volvo S80 2.8 Turbo (0-60 7 secs) at the mo cos I'm getting married this year so need funds!!! By god im missing my soop - have to get one again when i get through this year! Easy, D
