  1. Well IMO, I think the blue looks very classy in that it's colour matched. I'm not sure yet whether the all-silver doesn't still look more expensive than what now appears to be 3 small lights behind a stone shield.
  2. Not in technical puleeease. I haven't had my lunch yet
  3. Stunned silence..........................
  4. Your trying your hardest to wind me up, aren't you?
  5. What's involved? What's the individual bulb price? I'm going to assume the 'transformer' is actually an inverter, which is absolutely NOT rocket science, so if we can seperate out the bulb/transformer costs, maybe it becomes more viable.
  6. They always looked good but a few good forest stages and they overheated, with the consequent reduced performance and life. A few of the auto-test boys (the ones who couldn't afford Bilsteins) used to use them as their activities were V short and on perfect tarmac. I might be persuaded they're ok for track (good quality, predictable surface) but I'd need some real convincing to use them for fast-road, particularly with the roads around the Cotswolds.
  7. Nope, I haven't seen it. I thought you meant the bit inside the engine bay, i.e., the back of the lights, Duh! I need to see them, it sounds yuchy.
  8. *Spax????* Yeuch. OK on minis, apparently.
  9. What I meant was "why paint them". I'm too tired to go and shine a torch on mine right now and look at what they look like, so I was wondering if they're an eye-sore and trying to work out whether I'm likely to care.
  10. I was supposed to take the original hoses with me when I went 'up North' to my sister-in-law's pearl wedding 'do', but I forgot them in our disordered, late, departure from home (hoses in the trunk of the wrong vehicle). DOH! I know this makes me gormless and I accept the lable. I wrapped them in polythene and posted them off the following week. I haven't chased them as I went over to the Forest of Dean last week-end and that was the last thing on my mind. Tomorrow a.m. I start my first day at 'The Beeb' and I expect to be somewhat busy and so I may not get time to pursue it until Tuesday or Wednesday. It's the holiday time of year and with my job move too, I just had more personal things to think about. Sorry. I will sort it by the end of the week, promise.

    Isn't that Proton Sports?
  12. Good idea....Alex over to you. BTW Bwuuhahaahaaa is a much better evil laugh. (think anyone will post earlier than this, and I don't mean the dirty stop-outs who don't get in until 03:00).
  13. Shame, that would have been a useful comparison table to have. I was certainly watching with interest. It's just a shame no one has the data. What we need is someone really, really clever and knowledgeable.
  14. Is this a UK spec thing only? My fuel cap sometimes jumps off into my hand when I unscrew it.
  15. and while we're all in a silly mood.... you stop it by turning up the radio/CD player
  16. What little I picked up watching chipsaway-man and body-shop-man was, if it's through the lacquer, touch it up and flat that, then polish it. If it's not through the lacquer hire/borrow a polisher and machine polish it. I only used 2000 grade on my mirror to flat was already matt'ed by the garage door pillar. Once I had removed the matt area, I could see the cuts where I needed to place the tiniest amount of touch-up paint which I flatted and polished afterwards.
  17. Did the man from Chipsaway leave the surplus paint with you? The franchisee for my area did, along with instructions as to how to use it. Now while I wouldn't normally go near my car with anything more harsh than the occasional swear word, having had a play with 2000 grade (thank you Ash), I no longer have any fear. If your local Brown Bos. fails I 'll ask body-shop-man where they order it in from.
  18. I'll check with body-shop-man but you need a very mildly abrasive polish to follow it (I've been doing the same on my mirrors, from where I rubbed the garage pillar on the way out). I think it was 200's grade.
  19. Well maybe a little more but basically you're right. When I've got the top off and it's baking hot, I'm king of the road but when it's overcast, dry and I'm on a fast GATSO-free road, I regret the removable top. I really ought to drive with the roof off all the time, it slows me down considerably.
  20. I think I'm getting the picture here. There's a name-your-own-price market for useless/redundant kit which looks nice and preferably makes sporty sounding noises. Hmm! How about an aerodynamic carbon rear view mirror which pipes the sound of the exhaust up into the car. Better yet, how about piping the exhaust fumes up into the car.
  21. ...and do they make nice whooshing noises too?
  22. When you say "not all cars" do you mean not all MKIVs because that was what I was referring to. I understand lesser metal has to have bits added but are you saying some MKIVs have to have surgery. If not, back to my point.....
  23. OK quickdraw, how about the price?
